We've all had "new ball" syndrome. Freshly drilled, big scores right out of the box. Well, I've had my Scorchin' Inferno for two years now. It was my heavy oil ball when I first got it. Not long after, I got my Lane #1 SCB and it was the "oil ball".
Anyway, since it never got much use, and I refuse to let go of it, since my wife bought it for me for Valentine's day two years ago also, I decided to tinker with it some. I took it to 4000 abralon, and then polished it with Rough Buff. It's drilled 3 3/8" stacked leverage, and it's very strong.
Bowled with it on our Friday night mixed league, with the youth bowling league right before us. Went 206-214-230-650 the first set. Hit the pocket about every ball, and the carry was excellent. I was able to play a line that I use to play alot, but some of my newer balls leave some ringing 10's there now. We made up our bowling from two weeks ago that we missed right after, on the same pair. Figure why move since we're all lined up pretty well.
Went 205-202-256-663. Same line, same great reaction. Went open, 4 bagger, 8/, 5 bagger, open on fill ball the last game. I only had to move left a few boards all night, and had an excellent line with it. Baby split in the 6th, and a tug on the 12th cost me having 11 in a row that game.
I know they weren't great games or series by any means, and could have been better, but I was more impressed with just the changing of the cover, of such a strong ball, and keeping it out for a 6 game set with little adjustment. Just shows I guess how you can unlock a balls potential with some surface change. I've never taken a really strong, strong layout drilled ball, and really shined it up.
Needless to say this ball has landed back in the locker for a few more runs in league, and we'll see if the patern continues. Sorry this a long mess, just had to FIGJAM a little.
