I was looking for a Absolute Inferno but, my pro shop has an Ultimate Inferno in stock that he will give me a killer deal on. I am wondering if I prepare the cover the same way the AI's cover is prepared if it will act alot like an AI?

Has anyone polished, altered, or rough buffed a UI cover?

You can definately drill this ball and adjust the surface to become more of an "absolute like" ball. It is versatile enough that it will not quite get the backend of the absolute, but the midlane read you get will give you a look very similar to an absolute if you adjust it enough. For medium-heavy, both will work, i think the ultimate would be better at playing a bit straighter and the absolute will most likely like to be swung a bit more (just due to the angularity and backend that you see out of both balls). Both can work very well on the same condition!

my 2 cents...

i play mostly on a ths.  couldn't use the ui oob condition because it was looking for more oil.  i could never use this ball past first game.  so i first hit it with the rough buff and it seemed okay but still was not satisfied with the way it was rolling.  i was able to use for a game and a half.  i finally hit it with brunswick high polish and this ball rolled like the way it was meant to roll on heavy oil.

with the polish, this ball will go longer and skid/snap harder to the pocket but i don't think it has the same reaction as an AI.  now, I don't have an AI but i've seen alot of bowlers in my house who uses it and have seen enough as to how it reacts.  AI does go longer on a ths but with more "arc" to the pocket rather than skid/snap.
