Ultra Zone and Blast Zone

One last question before I order the Ultra Zone....If the Blast and the Ultra are drilled the same, is the Ultra Zone weaker then the Blast Zone because of the coverstock ?

"Weakness" is relative. The Blast Zone comes out of the box with an 800 grit surface, which makes it an "oiler". However, it is a very effective weapon shined up with Rough-Buff, and probably "weaker" than an Ultra with that finish. Given equal drilling and surface prep, you would probably find the Blast Zone to be a little longer in the oil and a little snappier off the dry than an Ultra zone.
That being said - I haven't thrown my Ultra yet - it's getting holes today. I am basing this on my experience with Brunswick covers, my playing with the Blast Zone surfaces, and the reaction I've seen with my Twisted coverstocks.

Having thrown my Ultra for about 3-4 weeks now, the Ultra is cleaner through the heads and a more aggressive late move. It fits between the Blast Zone and the Twisted Fury. The Blast handles oil better, but the Ultra responds more aggressively once it hits friction.

I am a bit confused now...went to the pro shop just now and checked with him about the Ultra Zone. His reply was that I don't actually need one, he further explained that I have the Blast Zone for heavier oil then I have the Twisted Fury which can handle mid heavy to medium oil so the Ultra is not necessary. He also mentioned that I can actually keep mu Fury Pearl at home too. Any comments from anyone here ??

Hes probably right, the balls will be enough BUT my biggest thing would be reactions. HOw they react and where they react, thats why I buy new stuff or used in most cases. I had 3 total shock & awes from morich with all different layouts and surface to get different reactions. Now if you have all drilled exactly the same, then yeah may be a little silly but if you going to have it drilled to react differently then your TF and your BZ then yeah why not but as far as handling oil, you have that covered. Sometimes you just need something different to get a better look on the lane, specially with a sport shot.

You probably will have overlap if you have a Blast and a Twisted.  I've got a friend who has the Ultra and Twisted, and I have a Blast.  The Ultra is right in between them, but if my friend has a line with one, he has a line with both, the Ultra just starts up a little sooner and is a bit smoother on the back.  And since I got my Blast, all I need to take anywhere is my Blast and Fury solid.  The Blast IS an oiler, like has been said, and you probably won't see it "hook more" until you get on a heavier volume pattern.

The Blast is also an excellent "medium" ball shined up, and provides a less angular reaction than my Twisted. When the Twisted entry angle is too sharp, my Blast can provide more reliable carry. You could make an Ultra and a Blast complement each other nicely on either side of each other, depending on the surface. prep.

Leave your Fury Pearl at home? BLASPHEMY!!!

I'm drilling another FP. Actually, it depends on your style and lane conditions as to whether or not you'll have any overlap.  Here's my assessment of the 4 balls, again.

Blast Zone - strongest and earliest - handles oil well
Ultra Zone - cleaner through the heads than Blast and bigger move late
Fury Pearl - cleaner than the Ultra, more angular at breakpoint
Twisted - cleanest through the heads and slightly more angular than Fury Pearl and needs to play closer to the friction.

If all balls were painted the same color I could tell which is which by how they roll and the amount of late movement. All of them are great, and at any given time one may carry better than the rest.

Threw the new Ultra today and confirmed my earlier prediction. With both the Ultra and the Blast Zone having a shiny Rough-Buff surface, the Ultra is stronger than the Blast (dohh).
It's a freaking Monster! I haven't been this jazzed about a ball in a long time. Looks like my Absolute is finally going to get a rest.
