Think of trying a Fury Pearl or TE?  Eother of those are gonna get you length and finish.

As for the Blast Zone.  I've seen many happy faces with this ball.  If you're hearing otherwise, sobeit.  I'm merely reporting what I've heard and seen, as well.

My Blast Zone hooks more than almost anything I have, shot lights out with it for a solid month over the summer.

Ultra Zone looks legit, can't wait to shoot 300.

Nothing 3 minutes on a spinner can't handle.

Yeah but it's still 2 parts Solid..
I'm not saying that the ball is going to suck.. I'm saying that Brunswick could of made a better release, IMO. The ball might end up being amazing.. but it would just be nice to see some different stuff in the Zone line.. 2 balls with Hybrid covers in a row with the same core seems kinda dumb.

THEN DONT BUY IT.

Sheesh.

Looks ok, but the truth of the matter is I would also like to see something that doesn't hook as much. Maybe an Avalanche they are supposed to be out around the same time.

"Same cover as the Twisted (enMotion) which is VERY CLEAN"

Same thing I was thinking.

as someone who has thrown nothing but brunswick since 1995 i can honestly say i have found a way to make every ball work for me( and we're talking many bowling balls ). it might take surface preparation or angle of attack or change in axis rotation. that's what's great about brunswick bowling balls for me. their covers are so adaptable the amount of versatility is almost limitless.

OK you bashed the Blast Zone, but doesn't this ball look like it will solve the problems you had with it? Plus, if Rough Buff doesn't work for you, a few minutes on the ball spinner will fix that easy.

Just seems like those gripes are easily solved, assuming this ball even has issues to begin with.

Bashing the factory surface of a ball is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  It's like not liking a radio because of the song it's playing.  JUST CHANGE IT!

I for one can't wait for this thing. If it's anything close to the Twisted, they have another winner on their hands.

chris-m, as I'm sure you know, the Blast was a Hybrid of the original Activator coverstock in Pearl and Solid (Inferno & Ultimate). The new Ultra is, as you also know by now, a Hybrid of pearl & solid EnMotion coverstock. Quite a bit of difference in how they will read the lane. Also, the Blast did well with some, I just think a few too many got out there that weren't as good looking as others. Honestly, colors have become more important to consumers over the past couple of years in the high-end lines. We used to concentrate on making sure the lower cost balls had great shelf appeal, combined with good performance. Now, it seems as if even the high-end balls sell better when they look cool. Not to say that there aren't still those folks out there that want a one-color, plain coverstock, but more and more are leaning towards brighter looks, and this ULTRA ZONE has what it takes.

And, we do extensive testing of all new product to see what surface gives the best possible reaction for what we were aiming for. The Brunswick surfaces are always very tweakable based on how you need to adapt to what you are attempting to use the ball on. It is impossible to send a ball out of the factory that is going to automatically match up with everyone on every condition, we just give it the best opportunity to perform at its peak for "standard" league type conditions. I highlight "standard" only because we all know there is no real standard condition, only "typical" house shots. As with any ball, you can always make one ball overlap another with layouts and surface alterations, even know they may be charted as being different (in their box condition).

I hope, if you like your Twisted, that you'll at least consider the Ultra Zone as a great compliment. The only complaints we've had from some about the Twisted is that it doesn't hook enough on oil, so here comes the Ultra.

Regards,

  RoB LaW
