I've got mine drilled with a 5.5" pin above the fingerholes with the cg at 75° I don't find this layout to be very early at all.

My Sidewinder hooks  quite a bit on med-heavy patterns (on a par with my black widow for total hook). It's got good easy length, and is quite angular, although the angularity is smoothed by the particle in the coverstock as well as the partial solid so it's not jerky at the breakpoint.
I'm by no means a power player, but if you have a little less hand than me, you should be able to use this ball on mediums OOB, but be prepared for it to hook a bunch and move yourself deeper on the medium patterns

I have mine Rico and it is the most versatile ball in my bag.  It blends out white/black house patterns as well as gives good control on sport patterns.  I've tried the ball at OOB, 2000, 4000, and 4000+ Bean's Polish, all with success.  I think it is Brunswick's most under appreciated ball in their current lineup.
