Update Brunswick Arsenal
« on: May 21, 2008, 11:13:33 AM »
I bowled for the first time in over a year this past week and realized how much fun I have been missing.  I had mildly injured my wrist and it felt good now.   I would like to replace a few older balls and would like some suggestions.  You can look at my profile for ball specs.

Balls I like:  Strike Zone
               Absolute Inferno
               Punisher

Balls I don't like: Original Inferno
                    Radical Inferno

I need to replace the Absolute with a 14 lb ball.  I like the strong rolling, and strong backend of the AI.  The ball is in great shape but is  the only 15lb ball I have and I need a good replacement in 14lbs.

The Strike Zone I bought used and had redrilled.  It is getting old, and has been a great ball on fresh oil or playing more inside.

Punisher still works great from outside line.

Radical Inferno I never liked.  Has very few games.  I could get this redrilled if it would do anything.

Original is too skid snap for me and then really overflares.  Probably combo of drilling, polish, and it is an old ball.

I would like to probably start with four balls and then go to a fifth if I need to.  Many times I bowl on drier lanes and could use something between a Punisher and the Absolute Inferno, or a ball for drier lanes with carrydown.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!  Man, are all the balls different in a years time!

Can't go wrong with a Sidewinder!I feel it is the most underated ball Brunswick makes.Absolutely great hit and control, for just a little money!

You could try:

Ultimate Inferno (re-release) to replace the Strike Zone. Same cover but not quite as angular as the SZ. Great ball. Another option may be the Blast Zone.

Sidewinder to replace the Absolute. Testing showed they rolled very similarly.

Instead of the Punisher don't be afraid to try the Twisted Fury. Although it's stronger, you can shine it more and have a better option. I like stronger layouts for most bowlers and adding polish if needed.

These are only a few choices, the Ultra Zone is just plain fun and would fit somewhere between the Ultimate and Twisted among others.
