Vapor Zone
« on: May 21, 2006, 03:58:41 AM »
I recently drilled an Absolute Inferno. Pin above ring finger and cg kicked out a little. Friend of mine has an absolute and a vapor zone and told me to get a Vapor Zone as it would complement the Absolute. As far as I knew they were very similar to each other. What difference would I see with the Vapor compared to my Absolute?

Thanks

It will push a bit farther down lane and have a bit more backend.  The vapor is a good compliment if you're looking for a ball with a different breakpoint.  If you want a ball with different oil handling capabilities then they are a bit close.

Absoluite has a strong hard controllable arc reaction... and is used on fresher oil

Vapor Zone has a hockey stick reaction, that gets down the lane better and is better on beat up oil patterns.

Would be a good go to ball after the absolute starts reading early.

What Im looking for is a ball to go to when my absolute is hooking too early. Would I be better off drilling the vapor similar to my absolute or something different?

If both are in box surface and the Absolute is hooking early, the VZ will also tend to check early.  As twohead mentioned, they react very close to each other in box finish.  If you really want them to compliment so that you use the VZ when the AI is hooking too early, you would need to polish the VZ and/or go with a longer pin to pap (little left than the AI) and a MB angle from 65-75*.  However, you would probably be better off going with a slightly weaker cover.  A Classic Zone would be an excellent compliment (I had one to compliment an AI) or possibly a Rampage or Smokin since the CZ is discontinued.
