Best Tournament Showing!
« on: November 06, 2007, 01:00:56 AM »
This Saturday and Sunday, I competed in a tournament up in the Catskill region and had my best showing.  Everything from my coaches started to click as I realized that I was imitating rather than bowling like myself for the past month.  Big mistake I realized it was.  I decided to bowl how I was comfortable and went on to bowl the best I ever had.  On Saturday, for Team Play I bowled 237 206 and a 200 for a 643 series.  On Sunday, Doubles I bowled 233, 212, 185 for a 630 series.  For Singles, I bowled a 233, 209, 191 for a 633 series.  It feels great to have everything click, the ball was rolling off my hand that it even amazed me that I could bowl like this.  I missed a lot of ten pins otherwise I would have had my first 700 series.

All this was done with a total inferno, which has been great since the day I got it.  Do you guys think its worth it to go to Detroit for the USBC Youth Championships?

My own previous experience. You have to have alot of practice in alot of different houses, and different conditions. If you are not part of a travel league, or as stated before me bowling juniors gold, you may find yourself out classed. Excellent bowling though. Some of the kids in that youth open shot 670's to 700 as an average it seems

Very nice bowling. Now you get a first hand look at how important spare shooting is. I would recommend you work with someone to develop a "system" for shooting all spares. Every successful bowler must have a spare system that works for their game. Then, with 6-8 months worth of hard work, you might be ready to give Detroit a try when it rolls around next summer. And like Sims said, get out and bowl in different centers and events. You have to constantly test yourself on a multitude of conditions to really be prepared as much as possible. PRACTICE....and don't be afraid to take some lessons from a good instructor if possible. Even the top pros use a coach's eye on a regular basis.
