Shiny Scorchin'?
« on: February 14, 2007, 02:34:25 AM »
I have enjoyed this ball when there's oil to play in. I am wondering if any of my fellow Brunswick throwers have had any luck with this ball shined up. I'm not talking about the machines (Luster King, etc.) since I believe they'll completely clog the pores and ruin any reaction.

Please give me your feedback. Since I like the way this ball rolls, I'd like to try this ball on a second-squad type shot if it will carry the corners. Just curious. Thanks.

I used a brunswick polishing machine and it still eats oil. You'll have to play an extreme inside angle to play second shift, or put loft so it doesn't roll out on ya.

When I got mine it came polished.  I asked why, the guy I got it from (I won it in a ball raffle at a tournament, cost me $15) he said no one had been able to use it OOB, so he polished it.

Polished it was MUCH better than dulled.  For me anyways.  Of course I was always a HUGE fan of a polished Ultimate Inferno, and the reactions were identical.

If you're bowling on a THS, the polish will work well.

we have great success using ruff buff polish on this ball.
it clears the heads better and brings up the backend.  around here, there is usually not enough oil for a ball like this, past the first game.

Mine's at 600 wet sand, with rough buff, and the backend is just sick. Great ball with some polish on it.

I hated the ball anyway I had the surface. Dulled would be too early, polished in rolled terrible, and anything else I did to it, it just was terrible. I ended up trading it for a Lane #1 Dirty Bomb, and loved that ball.

2000 no polish was the best matchup for me, at 1000 and high gloss it went a mile or two lol

I am trying a polished Fury tonight right on top of the 800 it comes with.

Put polish on mine after i threw it only a couple times on my house shot. still a very strong rolling ball. does get more length, best part is is that it maintains the hitting power and carry, so i don't think you could go wrong. i went with 600 and black magic on top, if that's not "long" enough try like 1000 or 2000 even underneath the polish.
