Vapor Zone rocked the house tonight
« on: December 02, 2005, 03:02:28 PM »
I have the New VZ and like it. Right now I'm the only one in my leauge to have it and everyone was watching me throw it. I even had a few of the local Kenosha County Hall of famers watching. I shot a 714 series tonight with the VZ. The 1st true 3 game series with this ball. The games were 279, 209, and 226. The 1st game I ran the 1st 9. 1st ball in the 10th I was a pinch slow and the ball went high by 1 board and left me a stone 4 pin. I had some pins heading to the 4 pin but the rack dropped too fast. Ah well, close but not my time for the 300. Its my 3rd 279 game though. I like the ball and can see why the ball isnt 100% perfect but can work on the right oil pattern. 7 out of 10.

The pro shop guy in our house set his up 3 3/4 from PAP with the MB strong. Went 200-216-279 for 695 the other night. 279 was a half ten pin in the 4th frame.
It seems to me that this ball reads the midlane really well and then makes a hard move to the pocket.

The reason why its not a 10 is because the ball is not hooking more then my Rampage. Not by a long shot. Im getting about 15 boards of hook from the break point. My Rampage is giving me more hook. I'm gonna have the ball redrilled for more reaction. Maybe take the surface down a little or I could leave it as it is and have 2 different medium oil balls. When it hits the pocket though, it sure does knock em down pretty wicked.

If your stating the ball is so good in the house your bowling in why would you want to redrill it to hook more?

Some people really kill me...the ball doesn't hook enough so it's not very good.  Maybe I'll re-drill to to hook more.  Change surfaces?  Why would I do that.  Leave the ball alone, because I tied my high game and I have a great line to the pocket?  Nah.  Who cares if the ball is great for the house I'm in, I just neeed more hook.

I really need to consider changing my SN again.

I purchased the ball to be my main hook ball. Well it dont hook nearly as much as i expected it to. I did some re thinking since earlier today when i saw the response from Brunswick Bowler. What Im gonna do is this. Since my Rampage hooks a little more then the Vapor Zone already, im gonna add surface to the Rampage so it will hook more and have more hook overall. The Vapor Zone is a great ball im just dissapointed that it dont hook nearly as much as i thought it would.

BTW, Brunswick Bowler I changed my SN because im sure youve had that name for a while now and im fairly new around here (been a member of this site since 2002 but never posted till recently) so i changed it instead.

Keep in mind asymmetrics are far more sensitive to drilling.  Your driller needs to know exactly how you bowl and your stats, much more so than with the standard symms.

Didnt know that about these balls ak57. If i do as i have planned with the rampage and leave the VZ as it is, my aresenal will still be on track and do just what i need it to do. I am, however, thinking about getting a power groove dry/r instead of the Classic Zone for the dryer ths conditions. Then getting either a Strike Zone or Smokin Inferno for the heavier oiled nights.

I might have to get new equipment or update the current equipment for a sport shot leauge. Time will tell.

Actually, I'd like to revize my previous rating of this ball. Before I gave it a 7 out of 10. That was tough judging on my part, the ball is better then a 7. I would like to say this ball is a 9.5. Only reason why its 9.5 is the ball likes to leave stone 10's and stone 4's. Great ball!

Yeah, the reason for that is because of the PSA/MB.  You can pretty much think of them as a second pin.  Can you imagine drilling a ball and not taking into consideration the pin?  It would be a complete surprise what reaction you'd get.

As for the heavy oil spot, strike zone should do the trick.  And the Dry/R would definitely be the better choice for light/dry.

From what i saw last night, the vapor zone had more hook over the rampage (as i expected all along), I have my medium oil aresenal setup with 2 balls that can play the shot slightly different, rampage hits slightly less harder then the VZ. I'm still undecided between the SI and SZ for the oil ball. I am gonna get the Power Groove Dry/R for sure now. (could have used it last night to be honest) Just gonna take a few weeks before I can buy any more balls. Still gotta do my X-Mas shopping.

Don't get the SI for heavy oil.  It's not a heavy oil ball.  Get the Strike Zone.....now that's a heavy oil ball!!!
