Brunswick's Factory Finish guide talks about it.  All of thier polished balls are 400-grit plus the Brunswick polish.  See http://www.brunswickbowling.com/uploads/images/1567/Factory_Finishes.pdf.

but i think a Zone Classic drilled pin above bridge PSA under thumb or even PSA kicked to the right of thumb handles light oil very nicely

Why use 1000 grit abralon? Isn't it already suppose to get down the lane? Or is this to help it get started rolling sooner? I was thinking about knocking the factory polish off and hitting it with Track Clean and Sheen? Just a thought.

1000 to 1500 grit sanded is pretty close to the rough buff box reaction.  I hit my vap with 1500 wet/dry sand paper as needed.

Hitting the classic with 1000 grit abralon and not polishing really smoothes the roll of the ball.

I picked up a Classic yesterday. It has a 4in pin. Drilled it pin up above bridge and the cg kickead out. The MB is next to the thumb hole. When I picked it up it didn't really look polished it looked more like it had been ruff buffed actually it looks more like it's dull. Rolled it a little last night, very smooth with a good kick in the back end going into the pocket. I'm thinking about polishing it though. I was looking for it to get down just a little longer.
