Has anyone ever tried substituting insert tape with velcro tape, the cushioned part. Got this idea after hearing about magic carpet http://www.bowl4fun.com. Think I will try the velcro out and see how it feels.

If your not familiar with it you can find it at http://www.fastenation.com/fasteners.tmpl.

Yes I have used velcro instead of tape it works especially well when you have a really flat thumb and the pro shop doesn't want to oval the thumb that much.
My thumb shrinks a lot as I bowl.
In NJ I often find 1 inch velcro squares that are convenient.
I have also used the double stick foam tape squares leaving the backing
on 1 side.

Forget it; been there, tried it, doesn't work.
Magic Carpet is a different texture and height from normal velcro. Don't know where he got it from. Maybe directly from a Velcro manufacturer.

I used the soft side of velcro before, but it irritated my thumb a lot. I would say you should go with Ron C's Magic Carpet, its awesome.

I've heard of Magic Carpet, and was not that impressed. I was using velcro tape in the nineties,....back when BLue Hammers and Danger Zones were Kings!!! Velcro certainly worked for me back then!!
