You really need more info.
How is the Damage drilled and to what grit did you sand it?
The Damage is a higher RG (2.55)ball than the Misfit with more flare and pearl coverstock with Mica for some added traction. The Misfit is a polished solid with lower RG (2.51).
Both are Brunswick products with numbers from their web sites that show the Damage is just a little stronger on slightly more oil.
Damage:
- Hook Potential: 125
- Length: 115
- Typical Breakpoint Shape: 90 Angular
Misfit:
Hook Potential: 110
- Length: 120
- Typical Breakpoint Shape: 90 Angular
The Misfit is meant for medium-light oil while the Damage is closer to medium oil.
It's strange that while polished the Damage doesn't have enough backend, but while sanded it pings 10 pins. Normally under medium-light to medium oil, the Damage should have a good deal of backend, depending on the drilling and your release, of course. If the oil were medium-light, the polished should have plenty of backend. If there were too much oil for it, then sanded, it should not be pinging 10 pins. That''s why I wonder how it was drilled and how roughly did you sand it?
I'd say the Misfit had as much backend as the Damage but on less oil. They're not very far apart.
House blended oil patterns can really disguise the differences between balls and their reactions.
