Almost everyone here seems to either want a oiler of the first magnitude or a skid/flip pearl, the flippier the better. The Absolute Inf seems a good non-flippy, very hard hitting, almost control-like ball.

The Ambush, about which I have seen very few comments of any kind here, seems like an Absolute meant to handle slightly heavier (than the Absolute handles), but not heavy oil. It seems FULL of potential.

So with normal or average drillings, how does it react compared to the Absolute??

i definately wouldnt go as far as saying that it handles more than the absolute.

its low load particle.
and the absolute is rough buff activator plus.

id say its safe to assume the ambush could be used on lanes with longer patterns, as the particle will traction in oil, but definately not heavier oil than the absolue can handle

It is NOT 220 grit. That is the starting base; after the application of Rough Buff, it is no longer 220 grit. I amabout 99.99% sure of that. Medium-heavy is the max for those with hand. Out of the box it handles medium for most people.

But charlest, why would ANYONE even think about buying this ball when it is $40 less than the high end stuff? I mean, the infernos MUST be better, hook more, carry more, roll earlier, and skid snap more just because they are more expensive!

I find it extremely unnerving that bowlers buy as much high end stuff as they do when there is the exact same performance available for $40 or more less. Makes no sense to my rational mind (and yet i do have 1 high performance ball still.... it was bought used).

I talked with a locla Brusnwick staffr who received both Ambush and VApor Zone before they went on sale for tests, and he was very impressed with the Ambush's great controllability either on a THS and a sport shot (his one has the pin under the fingers, but I am not sure about CG placement). This ball seems to be a good addition to high end stuff, when you either face spotty lanes or the stronger stuff is ...simply too strong, eiter burning up or jerking around.

The Ambush's coverstock must be pretty strong, I heard rumors that its base was Activator pearl, plus a light particle load. Therefore, being a pearl, it should be a very good match for 2nd shift leagues and late games on medium to medium-oily conditions.

Nevertheless, personally, I'd prefer the Impulse Zone to the Ambush. It is solid Activator base, should have even better grip and control and has the additional options of the asymmetrical core. Just looks dull, though.
I am not a fan of the BVP bell core, they do not seem to work for me (tested a Punisher and a Nemesis so far).

I've thrown both. My Absolute and Ambush are drilled nearly identically; pin above ring finger 5" from PAP, CG stacked below. The pin on the Ambush was shorter, so the CG is above the midline, whereas the CG on the Ab is on the midline. Both balls are in box condition.

On the second-shift house shot where I threw both balls, the Absolute was much earlier than the Ambush, and as a result, it wasn't nearly as strong in back. Overall, *on that condition,* the Absolute was about four boards stronger, but I had to get my feet so deep with the Ab that I couldn't find a good carry angle, even when increasing the speed or changing hand positions.

I hope to throw both balls on a fresher condition sometime soon, at which point I can provide more information.

My opinion......if I was looking for a ball that could handle heavy mediums control value built in I'd buy a Legends NS2. But. you already know that Jeff.

Nope, I'd already have one, the New Standard!
Used it last night to shoot 694, when I couldn't find my timing with a shovel, a pitchfork, and a metal detector. Imagine if I knew what I was doing!

Save the NS2 for those who need it.

I'm just interested in what the Ambush is.
