Arsenal Question
« on: March 12, 2006, 06:24:48 AM »
My Arsenal: Heavy to Light 16lbs Tweener

Action
Absolute Inferno
Action Packed
Messenger Ti Pearl
Panic

My question is if I sold my Absolute and purchased a Scorchin' would I have too many aggressive bowling balls. I have the action's because the College team I bowl on likes to throw sport shots out at tryouts and practice so i need the extra power. If i get a Scorchin would I be too powerful on typical league shots?

Might be better selling the Action and replacing it with a Scorchin'. Keep the Absolute for Med-medium heavy, Scorchin for heavy.

Use can use the Scorchin on a THS, depending on your style of game, might need to bring the surface up a bit though, could burn up too early and hit flat.

The scorchin will be as much if not more than the Action.  It seems like a good arsenal already.  I noticed that you have another thread that says that you don't like the absolute, why and how is it drilled.  Perhaps a redrilling or a surface change will give you what you want without purchasing a new ball.

I wouldnt get rid of the action. Action has a lower RG then the scorchin. If anything I would polish the action and get rid of the absolute for the scorchin. Action has the lowest rg on the market and a pretty nice diff. Will move and rev up alot faster then those 2. My opinion however.

The absolute has a pin under the ring finger

I've had the Big Bully, a ball with the same cover and still a strong core.  It is supposed to be just slightly weaker than the action, as the action has a stronger core.  The Big Bully as compared with the Ultimate was about 2 boards weaker with the same surface prep and drilling.  I would consider the action to be similar, but slightly weaker than the Scorchin.  Switching the Action for the Scorchin will get you a little bit more of an oiler and probably more on the back.  This however, as I mentioned before, doesn't take into account your dislike of the AI, and assumed contentment with the Action.  I would suggest the Shock and Awe or the Vapor zome if you want something with a little more angle, but judging by your response

You have no idea of your PAP and thus drilling a strong asym will be asking for trouble.  Perhaps a Smokin would work for more length, but I personally feel it is weaker on most shots than the AI as it comes polished oob, at the same grit it should work well.  If the AI had too much angle/was too unpredictable, the Ambush would be a great choice.
I don't mean to single anyone out, but this isn't anywhere close to logical:

If the Action is stronger than the others and is supposed to be the oiler why polish it, and also, the AI and SCI are not even close to substitutes for each other.

If you want more precise advice, give a better explanation of your drilling and tell me why you don't like the ball.
