Viz-a-ball 2nds
« on: October 08, 2008, 11:22:29 PM »
bowling.com has some viz-a-ball seconds.  I found one that I want to get for the kid, but I'm curious just how bad the ball looks.  Is the image blurry?  Miscolored?

Any info is appreciated....

I was going to buy one of these a few months back so I checked out bowlingball.com's feedback on ebay.  Most people liked the viz-a-balls but there were a few that were dissatified. Also, the driller at the local pro shop bought one of these from bowlingball.com and he was not happy with it because for some reason the ball would roll over the thumb hole. Yeah it's odd but he had to get rid of it.

agroves, there are numerous things that can turn a Viz-a-Ball into a second. Most of them are very acceptable as such with flaws that just don't allow them to be sold at top dollar as firsts. I have personally inspected 1000's of them in an effort to teach our inspection teams how to determine what is and isn't acceptable as firsts or seconds. If they are too bad, they are scrapped.

With that being said, it is still a crapshoot more than likely on what flaw you would see when ordering these. As for the ball hitting the thumbhole, not sure what's going on there, but we do not let any Viz-a-ball leave the plant that has any flaw that would cause any type of performance issue.

I hope this helps some. No guarantees, just trying to clarify the whole Viz-a-ball 2nds deal.

So true Crispy. That's what we do in our shop back home. 80% of the issues with Viz-a-balls pertains to the image not being perfect. The other 20% of 2nds have issues like mis-shaped or cracked pins, porosity, and small nicks or dents, but all still very usable.
