hey there,
well.. im currently a 175 avg bowler, usually a 180+ avg bowler, i've had a bad couple of weeks starting league, but i'll get back up there.. i agree with the others.. i would do the following..
1. get a coach.
2. increase your single and 2 pin spare conversion percentage.
3. diffently look at the pba on sundays, was well as the women.. you can pickup tons of help that way.
4. they say that an increase in ball speed can help carry many of those pocket shots that don't seem to carry those pesky 10 pins. (ex. liz johnson throwing it 20+ mph on her way to winning the open)
5. look at how your ball enters the pocket.
6. try different angles and layouts.
not knowing how you throw the ball or what your characteristics are try different lines. look at walter ray, liz johnson, parker bohn, they're great down and in players. there's a good article in usbc bowler that there are a lot of times down and in is the best. sure tommy jones may have more revs and have a little more to get more messengers and it does look flashy, but straighter is greater..
someone suggested you get a lane 1, that may help, but then again there are alot of bowlers that bowl with all mfgs and have pretty good averages. so lastly, increase your spare conversions percentage and you can't help but increase your average. the strikes will come.
hope this helps.
keep it between the gutters..
