Wanting to build a same manufacturer arsenal..
« on: February 01, 2011, 02:03:11 AM »
Hey guys..  quick question.. or maybe not..  I've been a guy who gets a ball from whoever, and now I'm having trouble fitting balls in between or knowing when to use what at times, so I've made a choice to build a Brunswick arsenal.

I figure I will pick up 3 balls to start with..

I'm a rev dominate player, been using a 14 as of late.  Ball speed is at best controlled at 15.5.. but usually around 15, but tons of side, due to the fact I have to throw off the wrong foot due to leg issues, coming around the leg, forces me to be more side to keep balance and to get around the leg.  My track is medium high, but changed hand positon in the last few months, so it's not as high as it was..  tracking just right of thumb, oh right handed.

Most of the ball drillers I trust know the equipment are brunswick guys, and now that seems that brunswick  has hit the angular market now, I think I want to go ahead and get a set going.

The house I bowl on can be over under, 39ft shot..  changes quickly, pretty sure some thin oil..  Tough from night to night to get a consistent shot.  I have a second shift doubles league that is fried at the starting point..  I have a three step approach, so I usually take a step back to try to get some head oil, to get the ball to slide.  Anyway..  Going to nationals, and starting to bowl in traveling tournaments.. so want to get a set to handle most of what I will see..

Was thinking of Alpha Max, and either a Wicked or Loaded Revolver, and then a Damage..

I currently have a Python that is too over under for me, I don't use it, 607A which is my normal house ball, a Midnight Vibe, use that on drier conditions, and a Scout Reactive for my spare.

I tend to throw more to the outside due to the getting around the leg thing, so thinking that middle ball would need to be forgiving, and figuring the middle ball would be my every night ball for league.  So help me Brunswick guys what do you think I should go with...

Jag,

In my opinion, for your rev dominance, the Alpha Max would be way too much ball. I'm slightly speed dominant and it's a ton of ball for me. If you could give us exact stats (speed, RPM, tilt, rotation) we could give you better advice and probably even some good layouts.

That being said, for you, I like a combination of the Wicked, Loaded Revolver, and the Damage. The Wicked is my favorite ball in the bag and it can easily handle some volume. The Loaded Revolver would be your benchmark ball (it is for me) so for the most part you can just slap your favorite symmetrical ball layout on it (just remember its a pearl cover/ low RG). The Damage can definitely get down lane easy and still make a good move back. It could work as your drier condition ball, but the Damage is still alot of ball for me. If you are able to post your exact release specs we could determine if you need a less aggressive ball than the Damage or not.

Besides, getting a Wicked and a Loaded Revolver gets you $75 back in rebates.

Just my opinon, but I think the Wicked/Loaded Revolver/Damage combo would work well for you since you like the 607A and Vibe.

I agree with Jared with the Loaded Revolver, Wicked Siege, and a Damage would be a good 3 ball arsenal to get started.  You should work with your pro shop guy drill the balls to compliment each other so that you can step down when they start hooking too much.  I would set them up in the order I have listed above due to the cores and coverstocks of the balls.

Yes.  The Loaded Revolver has a lower RG than the Wicked Siege which will help it start up earler.  Watch the videos and see the reaction of both balls.  Loaded Revolver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xct_YCqbKqo    Wicked Siege:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1YUNGU7Dww

All really good suggestions. If  you chose to add the Alpha Max in your case it would only be used if you see high volumes of oil. If the shot is prone to hold up well the Alpha will be awesome. You may find that is the case when you start to travel to tournaments. So, I would look at something like:

Loaded Revolver
Wicked Siege
Anaconda

I like the idea of the Anaconda since it will give you a lot of separation at the bottom of the arsenal. You could certainly go with a Damage there.

Regarding the comments about setup and RG/Diff.

I would consider setting up the Loaded Revolver pin down to get started on longer volumes.

I'd consider an average layout on the Wicked something like 45 X 4.5 X 45...that's a really good middle reaction layout. The ball will give you a lot of pop on the backend

If you find the Loaded is not enough you could consider an Alpha at some point. If you really need something for the burn...drill a Slingshot...it's a lot more ball than you think.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss.
