Was Fortera Exile a hit or miss?
« on: May 07, 2015, 03:28:40 PM »

I saw on a few places online whereby the Exile is being sold now at a good price (for el cheapos like myself). Just curious among those who have had this piece was it a hit or miss for you? Was it a ball better suited for a THS or actually for tournament shots?

Great ball! If you want something thats long and strong this is exactly what you want.
I know they are getting closed out at this point. Snatch one up and let me know how great it is. Great ball when there is a touch of friction. She does not like heavy oil. Awesome medium oil piece.

have fun with that rock!

Great ball that got released mid summer last year during the dead time of year.

I love the ball. I think it's an excellent ball that got released at an awkward time. If I had extra cash I'd buy one, but unfortunately I do not.

I love it.  I have 2 with slightly different drills..... versatile and definitely  strong.  To me this and the Mastermind are some of the best asymmetricals out there.

I love mine. It does need some friction but it's a different look than what they had at the time. I know Buddie's has 14lb's on sale for 84.99 I think.

I think its a great piece but I dont think enough of them got into bowlers hands...isn't there an intrigue too?  Haven't seen either in person, and I bowl in 7 different houses...

I've seen the Fortera Exile a lot out here (In Hawaii at certain bowling alleys). The Fortera Intrigue, I have barely seen any. The ones I have seen though have rolled well.

I still haven't seen either of the Forteras. They were just awkward releases. Awkward meaning they were priced higher than the Mastermind series and people really seem to love all of the balls in the Mastermind series. So there didn't really seem to be a need of another upper end higher prices assym

I think it was a overseas release that they decided to sell here or something along those lines.  WTH is a fortera anything? I dont get it..

I was very curious about this ball when it came out. Love the length and response to friction I saw in the videos and the ball is just good looking to me. I also saw the low price. Can anyone compare this to the Melee Jab?

The Jab is more smooth and predictable off the spot for me. The Exile was about as skid/snap as you'll ever see from Brunswick.

The Vintage Gold Rhino Pro uses the same coverstock, as the Exile, so it's very easy to get down the lane, but with the symmetrical core it's more forgiving for me.  Hope this makes sense.

Lane,

That makes perfect sense, thanks! You sold me on the Jab. Exactly the info I needed.

Totally oposite for me.  The Jab is a lot stronger in the back.  The stronger core for me helps the Exile roll earlier and smoother but with more overall hook.

dougb,

My Jab, from day two, has had the gloss knocked off, which would explain some of what I'm seeing.  I left my Exile at box finish, which, consequently,  needed some real friction to grab, but then it was very angular for me.

Even when I tried the Jab with polish side-by-side with the Exile it was easier to predict where it was going to finish.  We all bowl on varying conditions, and our physical games are different so it never surprises me when another bowler, such as Channelsurfer, sees something different than I do.  My Exile now belongs to another bowler who loves it, but for me my Jab has been hard to put down.
