What a BIRTHDAY day
« on: March 14, 2011, 04:02:02 AM »
CONGRATS to Ray Salas, a good friend (and past staffer of mine when I was at Brunswick) on his 50th birthday....here's how his day went:

JANBA (at Serra Bowl, Daly City) doubles event

Ray starts his 3rd game with the front nine-blower 7 pin to shoot 279/764...Ray and his partner, Len Ichiyasu both using C-System Alpha Max's, won the dbls event with 1529...

Then later that night, competing in league at Granada Lanes in Livermore, Ray managed to limp in with 300/802...

As he told me...'Brunswick's been making me look pretty good lately'

NOT BAD FOR A SENIOR BOWLER.....

CONGRATS AGAIN

Happy B-day and congrats on some great bowling. I had the pleasure of meeting Ray some years ago when JANBA was here. Great guy and talented bowler.

Thank you all for the kind words.

I gotta hand it to Len.  After struggling in the Six-Game Classic and Team, he came up huge in Doubles.  He used his alpha-max the first game, then switched to an Anaconda for the last two, shooting 276 the last game.  For those who aren't familiar with JANBA, the bowlers move pairs after each game in all of the events, which puts a premium on reading the condition quickly--and Len did this very well.

And a big thanks to Ric Hamlin for all of his help, not just with respect to ball selection and layouts, but with my physical game as well.  He was there when we bowled Doubles;  I hope he enjoyed the show.

You were bowling while I was there...no way

I have been fortunate to work with a lot of talented individuals...Ray is definately at the top of that list...going all the way back to the '79 college chanpionships...when we first worked together....you and Stoutie

Anyways, congrats AGAIN...nice shooting...couldn't do that tho when WE bowled together...
