Just a couple baked Big B vids
« on: January 21, 2006, 07:35:33 AM »
Well noticed quite a bit of lossed reaction in my absolute this past week in league and decided to bake it, this is the 2nd time i've done it to this ball. I also put my ultimate in because it had been forever since I had and knew it wasn't as strong in the midlane as it had been. 15 minutes @ 170 degrees, 2 sessions a piece, wipping the ball down with grease lightning in between and after each bake.

Went and practiced yesterday and brought the camera with me and took some nice shots from the ground, quite artistic I think. Balls roll much better and I was able to get back to carrying a little better. There's also a shot of my rampage, after shinning it up quite a bit.

BTW, just a 39ft. THS. I will have a hard time believing anyone who tells me that baking balls doesn't work and that it ruins balls. I probobly bowl more than most on here and my balls get alot of games on them and i've baked balls prolly a dozen times now and have yet to have any problems. Recommended to anyone who feels their balls have lost reaction.

PS. give them a second to download before playing or they will be choppy, each is about 20 seconds.
Enjoy,
Mike Larsen

never soaked before, have done the dishwasher once about 3 years ago, but didn't really know what to expect and didn't use the ball much after.

Baking works, nobody would deny this.
But it bears the greatest risks for the balls.

My buddy has lost alot of reaction on his Absolute. So back in his pro shop he put it under a couple sessions under the heat lamp and the oil rolled out of it. Now it's back to a great reaction and performance he had before, and he's very happy with it. These balls seem to really soak the oil in and die out. I've gone to a micro-fiber towel to see if that helps mine.

Make it a habit to wipe the ball at least after/before each strike shot to avoid oil absorption before the ball is soaked up. A micro fibre towel is great, and the occasional cleaning of the surface with a mild degreasing cleaner or a special product will help you to keep the pores on the surface clean for better traction.

I used to use a towel as part of my pre shot routine and then i just stopped doing it, not particular reason.  Prolly cause I can never keep a towel for more than a few weeks.
