Title: What should...

What should my vapor zone look like after a successful rough buff? I think mines came out too shiny.

It should look like a high grit sanded finish (around 2.000 grit) - not shiny. "Sheen" might describe it, but "glossy" would be wrong.

To get the finish right you have to make sure to have a rather coarse base grit before you apply Rough Buff. A maroon pad (about 320 grit, I think?) works well, but a green pad (about 600 grit) is not enough and will leave the ball quite shiny and with poor traction after the Rough Buff treatment.

I believe factory finish directions for applying rough buff is to take the ball to 220 grit and then apply rough buff.  The ball should look pretty dull, definately not shiny.
