I have both the Rattler and the Python. Both are drilled with the pin 5" from PAP, above the fingers, no XH, and both are in box finish.
For me, the Rattler starts up several feet earlier, with a smoother transition into a moderate arc, much like the original Inferno did for me, and like the Zones of the mid-to-late 1990s. On the same condition, the Python pretty much ignores the first 30 to 35 feet of the lane before going into a harder arc. On that condition (fresh THS on a horrible surface), the Rattler was about two-and-one to three-and-two stronger overall, but I could get deeper with the Python without losing recovery.
Also, for me, the Python seems to transition quicker and more smoothly off of the end of the pattern than my Smash Zone. I also had a bit of an inside limitation with the Smash once I got past third arrow, I had to go to the bag for something that would pop harder at the break. I don't have that problem with the Python.
Hope this helps.
