What to expect from a Fearless?

I won this ball in a Facebook raffle and I'm on the fence about drilling it. I've seen a couple of staffers throw it on our light volume house shot this past season and it looked lazy, round, and flat. It seems like this is a rounder more benchmark shape, but I am curious to hear what owners of it think about theirs reaction wise.

Eventually I'll most likely end up putting my favorite layout on it and seeing what it does. It looks like you shouldn't drill these too weak though as flat as the backend motion seems. Are you all finding the same thing?

I have one and I agree with box finish it does labor on the back unless there is a defined friction spot downlane, now after hitting it with a 3000 pad it turns into a much better Benchmark ball with a bit more motion on the back. All in all its a good ball that has dymanicore and DOT so I would drill it up if I were you and just play with the surface a little.

After using mine a ton I'd classify it as a control-type reaction, which is why some are not liking it.  Everyone wants massive backend movement or it's a "dud".

I can literally play close to (or on) the friction and the ball is money.  In other words, I can play right of everyone who is swinging the lane but with less backend pop and a more predictable move.  Two friends have shot 821 and 812 with theirs on the fresh playing similar areas to what I have described. 

Put your favorite layout due to the DOT technology, and move outside with confidence and you'll be surprised at how good a ball with a mellow reaction can actually hit and carry.

Trying to cross too many boards is the mistake with this one, but that only endears it to me more... 

P.S.   I have added surface to mine and it works well, but unless you're bowling on light oil volumes I'd be hesitant to try polish.

I have a left-handed friend with a Fearless and he definitely has to stay closer to the friction with his. I've been trying to think of a comparison but I'm not 100% sure as it's definitely a more mellow reaction in my eyes.

He also has a Vintage Inferno and has to play the inside more with the Inferno

Very even rolling ball that was strangely grouped in the "flip" category.  I have it being a little cleaner through the fronts, but revving up a little more in the midlane compared to my Cutting Edge Hybrid.  I like this ball when the back ends are crisp (its great on short patterns), but often seeing too flat of a reaction for playing in on anything long.  If I were to drill another I would go with a taller pin

This one was my favorite release this year.  I had 2 300s with it.  I have it very close to the Vintage Inferno but with more length.  I was able to start with my hand more up the back on top of the friction and open the angles while circling the ball more as time went by.  This one was a winner for me.

I'm getting very apprehensive about this ball. All this stay on top of the friction talk seems like there will always be a better option for my rev dominant med speed style. The way I've seen this ball roll forward at the end of the lane/at the pins seems to correlate with these reviews. Its close to a freebie $10 raffle, so I guess $50 total isn't a bad experiment.

With the consensus being this is a weaker ball, I may just try a pin high, strong pin layout to try and give it as much possibility of continuation on the backend. On stronger flaring balls, I love a 5 3/4" pin which usually places the pin about 3" above my bridge. With that layout I feel it'll be plack city with this. I am going to drill a vapor zone for a stronger downlane reaction compliment.

As an update. I got this ball drilled up today and threw 2 games with it. I decided to go with the default layout  that I put on 90% of my equipment. DOT over ring in this case. The first 5 shots or so I could not figure it out. It revved up stronger than I anticipated but didn't really want to continue on the backend. The box finish feels way too slick. I hit it with a worn out 2000 pad and it looked a lot better. I had a really nice look booming it to way outside in the late mids. With the extra friction at this house on the gutters, I got a strong reaction. Shots leaked inside the oil didn't face up, but overall I could see me throwing this ball first Bal out of the bag to try and find the friction zone and adjust from there.

Thanks for the suggestions. As far as carry, with the dynamicore and DOT I noticed a heavy roll, not a snappy reaction. It just doesn't like a lot of oil. Pocket shots were just as good as any other good shot that I threw. I did leave a mean smash 8 where a pin jumped in the air and fell on top, and behind the pin to trip it late. 177-248. This is something that might grow on me.

As a comparison, it was about 3 boards weaker than my GB2, about 3-4 stronger than my Hustle HYB.
