What to expect from my Red Zone
« on: December 27, 2006, 04:51:45 AM »
I just purchased this ball used from Rev-O and the span and everything works for me, so I'd rather not plug it and redrill it.

Here's a pic:

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m95/sgc300/2004_1230redzone0001.jpg

I marked the CG with a X on the pic.

On a basic scale just looking at the drilling, would you think it would hook early, or get good length?  I plan on throwing it sometime soon, but just in case I can't...I'd kind of like to know what to expect.

Thanks!

Well if you're not going to re-drill, make sure the pitches are right. And usually pin over bridge means it is drilled to go long. By looking at that layout, I'm expecting it to hook in the mid-lane.

With that profile, I don't think anyone can take you seriously.  Post a decent profile then maybe someone will answer your question, but I seriously doubt you don't already know the answer.

His profile was humorous, but no one can answer his post wihout some info on how he throws the ball.   Without knowing his pap it would be hard to say how that ball would react. I also think I read somewhere, that on the assymetrical Zones that the mb is recommended to be right of thumb.

Yes my profile is a joke.  Just trying to lighten the mood and poke fun at what this sport has become to SOME people.

No harm intended, and no I don't plan on changing it either lol.

I have been around here for a while, posting what I think is some useful information for people.

My question was serious.  I've never had a ball drilled like the Red Zone you see in the pic.  I am a lefty, stroker, medium ball speed, medium revs.  I am not sure of my PAP, but I track pretty high. I have never had anyone measure it for me.  Which after coming on here, I decided I need a new ball driller, just haven't found one yet.

Anyways, thank you to all who chimed in and answered my question.  I plan on throwing a couple games of practice with it soon, which should probably cost me about as much as I paid for the ball  So I'll see if it needs a different drill, or if the pitches feel off.  Just throwing it into my couch, it felt very good.

Thanks Again!

I got a chance to throw it a couple games today.  214, 245.  The ball came off of my hand perfectly.  In fact it was so easy to get out of I didn't know what to do with myself

The ball reacted so well for me.  I am not going to change a thing about it.

Not a bad deal when you can get a ball that is perfect for already drilled at a major discount!

Well thank you then

Just curious, why is the thumb drilled the way it is?

Hey lefty, would you please get off of me.  I've told you already my profile is a joke.  I do know about bowling, and I know how to bowl, but I don't know much about lay outs and things.

My profile is intended for giggles.  That's what this game has become to SOME PEOPLE.

Once again...I thank everyone who has come on here to HELP ANSWER MY QUESTION.

Lefty, if you have some input, it would be much appreciated, but don't follow me to every post and say "oh it must be a joke, he's a troll."  I am exactly the opposite of that, but thank you anyways for BUMPING up my topic.

I sold the ball to Steve, and it looks like he reslugged the thumb and grips in it.

Oh and the ball probably needs a hole, I think it had 3.5oz of TW.

The plan for the drilling was to rev up quick, with strong midlane and smooth backend....

What I got was, rev, rev, rev, rev, rev and no hook.
