Title: Whats a good beginner hooking ball?

My friend just learned how to hook it does not want an entry level ball whats something the next step up that wouldnt be too much, it doesn't have to be Brunswick, I just osted it here,Thanks.

Storm Thunderstruck, Roto-grip Horizon, Brunswick Rampage or Wizard, AMF Heist, not necessarily in that order.

Really depends on your definition of "not too much."  You should be able to get any of the balls below for around $150 (or less)* from your local pro shop (including drilling, maybe not inserts and slugs).

900 Global:  The Creature
AMF: Orbit Xtreme
Brunswick: BVP balls (Wizard, Rampage, etc), Power Groove
Columbia: Jazz, Wrath High Flush
Ebonite: Bash, Clash, Tornado
Hammer: Vibe
Rotogrip: Planet series (Saturn, Neptune, Venus)
Storm: Tropical Storm, maybe a Jolt

* based on being able to get any of the listed balls for under $100 shipped on-line (except for 900G Creature - not available on-line.  Ask your pro shop to order if they don't carry the product!).

I'm a big fan of the BVP line of equipment.  They cover a wide range of conditions and perform quite well...  Depending on the shop, you should be able to find one for ~ $150 out the door.

the bvp line of balls are moderately priced and work well on just about all lane conditions except for the really dry.

There's some, the best way to decide between balls is to go to a pro shop that sells many brands and ask the guy there to give him some tips for choosing the right ball.

I second to that! But I use Reactive Power Groove. It's been my Go to ball.

 put in what you think you what the ball to do
 it will mach you up.

you cant go wrong with a power groove. Its a station wagon with a blown 454 under the hood just waiting for the right driver

Regardless of brand or specific ball, I'd recommend getting a ball that has a very smooth hook to it. They're a lot more predictable, therefore easier to control. I have a lot of trouble controlling a ball that is very snappy on the backend. With that said, I'd recommend a Columbia Rival. I've not had any personal experience with it but my dad has one & he absolutely loves it. Plus from what you read the ball is supposed to be very versatile & hits like a tank.
