Title: Whats is a good ball to go under a Original Inferno?
Post by: Slopsurprise on September 20, 2006, 05:57:38 AM: I have an Absolute and an Original Inferno and I LOVE the way these 2 compliment each other. Is there a good ball that will go under the Original that will compliment it VERY well? I was sort of thinking about a Power Grove but, I know they are fairly strong. How about the Radical, Intense, or blazing??? Any other ideas? It must be a symetrical core also.

Post by: DP3 on September 20, 2006, 02:13:45 PM: The punisher is a nice ball but I absolutely HATE the way it reacts when there's a trace of oil or carrydown down lane and the midlanes are drying up. It's good on the fresher and shorter patterns but when the volume is good enough to start out with the activator shell and carrydown occurs, the punisher could be a nightmare to use.

I'd say stay with something with the activator base and a weaker drill so you don't get the squirtiness down lane from the punisher. A Zone Classic with the pin high and a 70 degree PSA, a Smokin Inferno with the pin about 5" from the PAP, and even a Radical with a weaker drill or if you could still find an Intense, they could all be great options for a look when the Absolute and Original are rolling too early.

Post by: LeoAnalyn on September 20, 2006, 06:03:45 PM: My Blazing and even Intense even more aggressive than my Original Inferno on Medium Oil about 5 board more right difference from where I stand on my Blazing (2-3L right handed). So I only used my Original on Medium Dry then my Smokin on Dry. But, I maybe wrong coz I'm a Med High rev that makes reactive works more.

Post by: yoder978 on September 20, 2006, 08:55:30 PM: zone classic by far. and the ball will last forever. over 1000 games on mine and it is still going strong. it is the ball when everything else doesnt work that will find someway of getting to the pocket.

Post by: hallofamer on September 21, 2006, 05:07:31 PM: I've asked this very same question to my pro shop guru and may have a surprising answer. He recommended a Heat Blast. I am trying to build a small but fairly versatile arsenal around the original inferno, was advised to get an Action as a step up and the Heat Blast as a step down. My stats in Profile. I'm from New England, bowl mostly on christmas tree patterns w/ medium to less oil volume. No floods up here. Good luck.

Post by: LeoAnalyn on September 21, 2006, 05:34:03 PM: Hard to believe but It is true, I bought my smokin thought it's going to be more aggressive than my Blazing and Intense but it turn out to be wrong. After reviewing some reviews some that the ball works better on dry. So I did. Dammed right! So I started using on Dry. Even on the Sport Shot they made the lane really dry for 7 weeks ( Really dry inside then more oil outside then drier after 39ft ) All bowlers score higher with the Smokin Inferno.

I would LOVE to go that route but, they are commanding a bit too much money these days! I am not going to spend that much for a NIB ball. Tempting though!

Still a nice arc like the OI, but just a notch or 2 weaker.
