Title: Whats the most games you put on a piece?
Post by: BallsDeep on December 19, 2005, 11:28:37 AM
The title says most of it.  Please say the ball, the #of games, and the cleaning process you followed.  Thanks.

Oh...apex agression 250 I bowled a whole HS season and another league, not to mention practice and the like.  I sanded it to 600 grit every week and used a towel during leagues.  Now I don't clean my stuff much anymore, I just buy a new one.  Best cleaner, in my opinion, legends cleaner, but it STINKS!!!

BRUNSWICK Speed Zone - at least 700 games.

Have had it resurfaced twice, oil extracted 3 other times.

Ball still works - but it's sooo beat up, I retired it to the shelf with honor. And replaced it with another one - NIB.

My all time favorite ball.  LT-48 Gold.  I think I had about 400 games on it.  I had it when i worked at the bowling center so most of my games were free.

My first ball, Blade Particle, ~1000 games, cleaned 2x, once around 500 games, and once before I retired it.

I have a Mutant with two full league seasons, probably 200 games between them.  Plus a summer season for another 50, plus half of this season with one league and some subbing for another 60 games.  Add practice here and there and it's probably got 350 games on it.  Had it lightly resurfaced about three weeks ago and I clean it after every set.  The reaction's not as strong as out of box, but I don't see why I can't use it at least through the end of the year.

I have a Nighthawk M2 that is still my primary ball that easily has 800+ games on it.  Clean it with a citrus degreaser every few sets, polish it every 30-40 games, resurface it when the track says it needs it.

Without a surface refreshing 20, total 150, I am a ball junkie with a spinner though.

my Sharp Blade, which for a while was my only ball, i would say had between 300 and 500 games. Not sure but man i loved that ball. I didnt clean it ever, but every once and a while i would hit it with a grey scotch brite to take off the oil shine.

My X-Factor probably has 3000+ games on it.  No joke, I bought one in October 2002 when they came out, and I'm still using it.  Some of the labels have worn (instead of an X-Factor, it's a "facto" now, lol), and it's a little beat up, but it still scores.  There's a guy I know that has a Violet 3D Offset Pearl that says he's got 10,000 games on it, and I'd believe him.  It was the only ball he threw from the day he got it until he broke down and bought an Inferno last year.  This guy's good too, he can throw that ball on any condition and score with it, I've seen it.

Dogman666,

Ball used during Cosmic Bowling does not count!

Hard to say, as almost everything I throw was acquired used.  Personally I doubt if I ever go much past 150-200 as, like Bob Hanson, I don't do maintenance except for the rare surface cleaning.

Bob and Mario--You guys are in my age range so you have to had rolled a rubber, plastic or urethane ball more than 200 games.  Yes???

For me original urethane Black Hammer way over +2000 games.  I use to keep balls and use them for 4 to 5 years.  Resurfaced every year.

2nd would be a bleeder Yellow Dot but finally it just had to much cracking.

Well, going back that far I did have a T3 (who made that?) that probably had 2000 on it, and a Black Diamond with maybe 1500.  Back then I don't remember anyone doing "maintenance."  My bleeder probably only had 3-400 on it when I hung it up for about 10 years.

I probably get around 150 games on a ball.  It would be more, but I think I don't bowl as much as many of the people on this board.  That, plus I buy about 4 balls a year, so the balls rotate out of the lineup before they see heavy use.  (Sometimes they rotate back into the lineup.)

My ball maintenance borders on the obsessive, with my whole cleaning and surface prep routine being done after only 3-6 games.  I have the time to do that since I don't bowl as much as many of you do.  I also do it because it's kind of a Zen experience for me.  I enjoy doing ball maintenance.

I've never had a ball die on me.

I used a Forest Green Quantum since 1993, and if I could still throw 16 lb. equipment, I would use it today under the right conditions. I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol after each set, and every week I would throw it in a Luster King for about 2 minutes. It seemed as though the coverstock would last forever on that ball. Over the last 4 years, I have tried many different brands of balls, and the best reaction is from my Uranium Buzzsaw. If the coverstock lasts anywhere as long as it did on the old Quantum, I'll be very happy.

Columbia U-Dot Black, must have 300+ games on it tracked up pretty good, might resurface, wiped with alcohol after use. I still have it and used it 2 weeks ago on a dry shot.

Mumzie, what do you use for "extracting oil" from a ball?

My original Inferno, bought March 2003, is still in use and has somewhere close to 4000 games on it, i would say just over 4000.. This includes practice and competition.. This used to be my benchmark ball..

I've resurfaced it twice, had it in the oven a couple of times and cleaned it when i remembered to..

It still packs a good punch, certainly started to hit a lot better once i started baking it and using abralon pads..

On edit:
My "new" benchmark ball is a Zone Classic, bought in July 2004.. Has about 1500+ games on it.. Also includes practice and competition..
