Scorchin Question...
« on: March 27, 2006, 11:30:19 AM »
A friend of mine bought this ball and drilled it up pin over the
ring finger and cg stacked below.  Ball came out with an ounce of
positive side weight.

He bought it for the heavy flood, and he is a tweener with med-high speed
and likes to play down and in.

He threw it oob and it did nothing, so I thought the ball was rolling out
way to soon.  He polished it oob and it still did nothing in the oil.  Is the ball just that strong.  Our house is ths and he usually throws the storm paradigm and has a great look.  I explained that the ball isn't going to have a monster backend but arc into the pocket.  What else could he do..

Drill a weight hole about an inch below his PAP on the VAL and take out that side weight.  That should do the trick.  Also, get that polish off of there and put it to back to 600 grit dull.  Pin over the ring isn't exactly the most aggressive pattern out there, but I think if you try my two suggestions, you may start seeing more reaction.

Those suggestions will definitely help, but from what I've seen of the Scorchin, it's not the oiler it's supposed to be.  It's a good ball if you take it how it comes, yeah, but if you're looking for monster hook, it's not going to give it to you.

Yeah, it should have been drilled a lot stronger to begin with . .

That's what I see there, way to weak of a drilling for what it's for. Go stacked right of ring and unleash the animal.

doesnt there seem to be some bad batches out there, seems like it either hooks a ton or does nothing

The cover can be changed and used alot of ways. I think alot of people don't realize that too much surface, they are getting roll out. Hooking too much=not an oily enough shot. Not moving= no the right surface or drilling for the shot. Just my .2 on this ball.
