Blazing Inferno....Wow! this ball is so good
« on: May 19, 2004, 09:03:42 AM »
I really can't believe what an incredible ball this Blazing Inferno is.  I used it about 7 games tonight on your typical medium-light house shot.  I'm from the Maryland/Virginia area and conditions here are usually alot drier than other parts of the country, so what we see as a medium-heavy condition for us, may be medium or even medium-light conditions to the midwest or west coast.  Therefore a ball with these specs(Blazing) is an excellent choice for the East Coast(above the Mason-Dixon line).

What really suprises me about this ball is the strength of this Activator Coverstock as well as the Core's strength, even though 1lb was removed from it.  I have one of the later made Blazings(a much noticably darker red than the first batch which were almost orange.  Mine resembles the red found on the Slay/R).  So maybe that's why this is a little bit stronger than what most people say it is.  As a matter of fact, this ball is so strong out of the dry for me that I'm almost afraid of drilling the Regular Inferno or Ultimate Inferno to go hand and hand with this ball.  Another great thing about this ball is how well it responds to release changes and lane breakdown.  It's really a ball I can see myself starting out a tournament with and finishing with it.  It's just a great all purpose ball for me, I'm even considering picking up one NIB since it's discontinued so quickly.

To the people afraid of picking this ball up due to the rumors you've heard about it either not hooking or a mistake made in the manufacturing process, don't hesitate, this is an excellent ball that could fit many styles of bowlers.

I have one drilled 5x5 with 2000grit polish. It's pretty nice on the heads that are starting to burn up, but not totally burned up... then it works fine... pretty lane condition specific though... unfortunately.

I think he may have just been stating that the BI wasn't very popular there, and he put 2 and 2 together thinking that if his area didn't like it, nobody did.  It's understandable, very common especially for bowlers who don't travel out much (not saying that he doesn't, but I fit that bill as I assume a whole bunch too).  Rather than being defensive and attacking his statement, personally i think you should be happy that no one else likes it, pick up about 4 of them at the discounted price (the price for 4 now is probably what the price for 2 would be if everybody liked it) and call it a day.

I agree with DP3, this is a good ball, very controllable but you've to know when to use it.

Stole the words right out of my mouth.  I didnt order one of these with my initial staff deal with Big B because I heard so much negativity about it. WOW, am I glad I decided to drill one anyway. Drilled it up 5" x 45 degrees with a decent sized hole on my axis, and the ball is absolutely sick on all but heavy oil, and is VERY responsive to release changes.

I started bowling again this past monday after a 6 month layoff from a wrist injury, and had the fortune of it being in a "PBA Pattern" league, pattern A to be exact, on Pro-Anvilane.  The ball honestly made it look wide open with the midlane/backend recovery on the lighter 37 foot pattern.  I cant emphasize enough DP3's words to not pass up on this ball based on word of mouth alone.  I think just about all styles of bowling can find a home for it. :0

This a great ball overall better yet the hole Inferno line is great. I have two of these one with a 5 1/4 X 3 1/2 and the other with 2 1/2 X 4 1/2. Both of these ball are great for medium condition. I don't why they are trully discontinue is ball but I got some cheap and selling them like hot cakes.
