Wicked Siege Initial Impression
« on: November 08, 2010, 05:40:35 AM »
First off thanks again to Brunsnick and the guys at Big B for conducting a contest and selecting me.

I have only thrown the ball for about an hour of practice on the USBC Nationals pattern but thats enough for me to make a few comments.

The ball is drilled a little stronger than my Evil Siege but I''ll still compare, the Wicked had similar length as the Evil Siege, but on the backend the Wicked grabbed quicker and much harder, making a stronger move and forcing me to move my feet in a few boards.

When taking hand out of the wicked and playing more on the back of the ball it didn''t labor to get up as much as the Evil did, this is huge to me because while the Evil rolls really well it tends to be very lazy downlane unless you get some extra axis rotation to help it.

I''ll be shooting some video of the ball this week and will post it up here, but so far I can say i''m fairly impressed that the ball really is stronger than the Evil and that it transitions as quick as it does while not providing anywhere near the expected over under.

Now that i've got a few more games on the ball i've got some more impressions (I promise video will be coming by the end of the month).

The ball for me in box finish offered a similar total hook as my Evil Siege (also at box finish) on a fresh pattern. When the lanes begin to break down the Wicked's extra entry angle really helped when I moved inside and the ball began too look better reaction wise.

After knocking down the the shine a little bit on the Wicked (my high tilt was creating some havoc at times) the ball really has came alive, on the THS the ball blends the pattern better up front and really reacts strong downlane but not overly aggressive. On flatter shots with the box finish it wanted to jerk off the spot a bit too much for fresh, with a little surface (2000 abralon) it transition a little smoother and really gave a nice reaction on the USBC Nationals pattern.
