Pearl Fury...
« on: June 01, 2009, 03:09:41 PM »
Got me one of these cheap off Ebay.  Man, this is a really nice ball!!

Pin 4 1/2 from PAP, under fingers, on span line.  CG out at about 35 degrees, X hole on VAL, down, on line from CG through pin at VAL.

Pretty much my Go To layout.  Used it today for 5 games on a not fresh Cheetah (PBAX) practice the day before.  Just wonderful!!  279 and a 289 in the 5, 200, 220 and 230 also.  Started off standing 7 looking at 3 down lane.  Finished standing 12 looking at 5 down lane.  So many stone 9 pins!!  Front 10, ring 10 the last game!!

I woulda sold a bunch of these (If I still had my shop) !!!!!

I like mine...

Mine is a 4.5" pin to PAP layout with the pin above my ring finger.

I'm not sure if it's the coloration or what, but mine seems to rev so easily...

GREAT BALL!!!

One of the best pearls in recent years. It got hurt in sales by the original Fury solid that was much more condition-specific.

And not to mention the orig. Fury had a habit of "dying" from what I've heard, so the Fury Pearl got a bad rep before it even started..

Great benchmark ball, even for it being a Pearl. It reads the lane so, so consistently.

FURY SOLID

Hmmm... Mine hooked just fine. 2000 abralon was the "happy place" for me, however a friend that has about 300 games on his Fury Solid likes his highly shined.

The ball was great for me on heavier and flatter patterns, but if there wasn't sufficient oil it didn't hit nearly as hard as other Big B balls I had at my disposal.

Funny thing with the Fury and Fury Pearl...a lot of the guys out here scuffed the Fury Pearl and polished the Fury, and reversed their spots in the bag.  They'd use the Pearl on the fresh, and go to the Fury after the pattern opened up.

I did definitely like my Fury better polished, and on drier mediums.

I loved my Fury.  Just used it out of the box, no shine.  Crushed Scorpion at the 2007 Tour Trials with this ball for the first 5 games or so, then too strong.  I was a Pro Source Pro Shop, so I know I got mine early.  That ball hooked a bunch for me.  Worked well for me at 2007 Nationals too.  Then like an idiot, I sold it on Ebay.  Moron!

Shot 300 with the Pearl Fury this past weekend in a little scratch doubles thing here in OKC.  Had 20 in a row at one point.  Standing 37 looking at about 18-19 way down the lane.  Had a great reaction!!  Really nice ball!!

For my game, it wasn't the worst ball I had ever thrown, but it wasn't the best either.  After trying several different surfaces, I did have some success sanding it to 500 and then applying polish for use on a fresh THS, but I like the Virtual Gravity better on this condition and the Twisted Fury better for broken down lanes.
