With all this talk of Monsters...
« on: February 25, 2005, 10:14:03 AM »
I'm phasing the Slay/R and Bruiser out of my arsenal, letting Nation members have first crack at them. The Raging Inferno will be next up, but I'm keeping that until the new catalog comes out. As usual, they all have low miles.

No, on the grounds of me being scared of what you'll do to my babies.

Nick, i'd throw them you know.  The monsters are my favorite line of balls.  The solder zone suffered its fate since it was the first ball (like 13#) ever purchased by me.

Nope, can't throw them once they are out of the current lineup. It is a grey area, I'm not sure if it means for the catalog year or once they are discontinued.

With the Absolutes/Classics/Impulses, there really is no need for anything else! Haven't even touched my Red/Black for a month, so that is saying something!

Most staff members can't throw any discintonued balls. From what I understand is that it looks better to have them using new equipment vs. something you can't get anymore.

WHHHHHHHHHHAT nick still has equipment that he has listed FS, this is crazy!  And its drilled sarge!!!!!!!!  The nation must still be sleeping.

Im guessing neither of these balls will care to much for carrydown.  Looking for something for a little mini leauge i bowl in, after a ladies leauge.  The CZ doesnt mind it, just less of a bk end but still carries well.

I was thinking of getting a punisher, but it looks as if the SlayR is very similar.

It all depends on how the contract reads. A friend of mine is on the pro shop staff with Brunswick, he can't ( ok maybe should not) use any discontinued product.

This seems odd to me.

$60 for a used ball that sells for $96 is a "good idea" because it's BrunsNick and the nation?  I'd be willing to bet that you'll be able to buy new SlayR/Bruisers for not much more than $60 soon.

Then, $97 for a used "PBA" ball is a stupid idea?

http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=77780&ForumID=16&CategoryID=5

Prices quoted from WO because they were the first site I pulled up that carried both.

http://www.wildoctopusbowling.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1118

For some reason MoRich and Lane#1 used balls sell for more than most other manufacturers.  I don't really know why.  Both tend to be a little pricey new, so maybe more people want to try them used to see if they are worth it?

From Moe:

It's been less than a whole day, give it some time, plus there is a lot less sire traffic on the weekends.  Also, less than 5% of all bowlers use a Sarge Easter grip.  That's a negative.  One more hole that will have to be plugged.

Edited for spelling

Nails=  its a low milage ball, thats including shipping, and its the first drill.  95 dollars doesnt exactlly cover shipping, nor does it cover the cost of my having to get the ball punched up, so that 95 dollar ball will get closer to the 150 mark before all is said and done.

60 dollars shipped from cali with 3-5 days shipping = roughly 45 bucks less shipping.  From a trust worthy guy like Nick, is much less than buying new punching up and yada yada. That is still half the cost of the undrilled NIB ball.  I find its eaiser to buy used equipment try it out and get an impression of it and if i like it, then i can purchase it new.

I would also like to try the sarge grip just beacuase, im still in my R&D phase, i try all pitches spans, grips just to see whats comfortable to me.

That's cool.  I did forget about the shipping on the other ball, but neither price includes any plug or drilling work.  I was just pointing out that they were similar deals, but one was thought of as a joke, while the other a steal.  I didn't mean to rip on either group.  Still, even if you want to try a Sarge Easter, you're in the minority; plus there is no guarantee that your span or pitches will be close.  Throwing a ball not laid out for your hand for a few games to see how it rolls or feels on your hand is OK, but if you plan on throwing it full time, it's always best to plug and redrill everything right.  That way every ball feels the same and you're not teaching yourself any bad habits by throwing each ball different compensating for the span/pitch difference.
