hey everyone, i dont know much about this ball, and i dont exactly know how it is on Heavy Oil.. my brother was looking to get one but i couldn't really help him out with this. here are his specs..

Right Handed
15-16mph ball speed
medium revs

he's been wanting and needing a Heavy Oil ball for a while now and i was wondering how the Scorchin' would do for him.. any help?

Get one! If it hooks too much or burns up, leave it 600 grit and just put on a light coat of rough buff polish. Still too much hook then add more polish till you find your desired hook.

This ball is a true oiler ball in its OOB finish.

My experience with this ball is if you drill it strong and leave it in oob finish, it will burn up on you if you dont throw it on true heavy oil.  A lot of the reviews I saw that were unhappy, were using the ball on a THS.  If you want to use the ball there, then most have noted that applying some polish to the ball helped. Mine was drilled for max flare and hook and it was just too much for the conditions I see.  Instead of adding polish, I plugged it and had it drilled a little less strong and took the cover down to 400 grit.  The ball works great form me now on med-hvy to hvy oil.

Basically imho this ball needs either polish or heavy oil to get down the lane with a strong drilling.  It also shines itself up after about 6-10 games so you need to be dilligent with cleaning and scuff pads to keep it working well as a heavy oil ball.

twoheaded......the Strike zone would have been even longer and less effective on heavy oil.  You said that on the 40ft sport pattern it worked well for two games.  What is wrong with that?  It is very rare now a days that you can go a whole set especially on sport patterns where you dont have to make a big move and switch balls.  You gotta remember that the heavier the oil, the more aggressive the balls are that are being used, so the faster it breaks down.  When the heads start to go, the Scorchin will burn up too early, and appear to be weak when in reality its time for a jump left and a switch to a Vapor or now the Red Zone.
