Your favorite Brunswick-poured light oil ball right now?
« on: June 24, 2015, 12:13:16 AM »
There seem to be so many good options right now between Brunswick, DV8, and Radical. What are people liking for a low revs/speed stroker?

I did well with the Strike King, LT-48, and even a polished Melee, but I'm dropping down to 14 and need to get one. Other options seem to be plentiful in addition to what I already mentioned... Soul Mate, Rack Attack Pearl, Ringer Platinum Pearl.

So what do folks think?

The Soul Mate is the best for me, with my Strike King a small step down when they're on the drier side.
My Strike King is drilled Rico, which for me ends up being fairly strong but stable, while the Soul Mate makes a bigger move late.

My best options have been a Platinum Ringer (drilled pin-up) and a Slingshot (drilled pin-down).
Ball speed avg. (18.25 mph)
Rev rate avg. (400-428 rpm)

Strike King for me on the Rico layout. Lots of use.

Just ordered another to drill up for this coming season.

Pin up Dude.  I have had it in my bag for 2 years and approx. 300 games and it still performs whether I am up the track with speed or lofting the left gutter on the burn.  Unfortunately they are becoming a little hard to come by nowadays

Thanks for the replies! Anyone try the Rack Attack Pearl? In my experience, you can't go wrong with the lightbulb core.

I personally haven't thrown the rack attack pearl but a buddy of mine has thrown that and the solid and loves them both. He used it alot at the Maryland State tournament where the condition is very dry

I like my DV8 Dude(pin up, box plus polish) for lighter volumes, but lately I prefer my Rack Attack Solid(pin up, E,  then A, then T pads), as it gets down the lane as well, but isn't quite as abrupt on the back end.

I enjoy throwing my Gold Rhino Pro drilled pin up.  My daughter, I just got her the pair of Radical Rack Attacks, and she loves them, but loves the grape solid a little more than the cherry pearl.

Mine is a larger angle longer pin Brute.  In my opinion it is the longest of the Brunswick balls and flares the least.  It works well on conditions that are burnt because it will maintain rotation and store its energy because of the low flaring core and the Fortify coverstock.  My similarly drilled Soul Mate flares more and hooks a little sooner.  My Strike King is smoother at the break point.

I hadn't considered the Brute as it strikes me as more of a THS ball. I am leaning toward another Strike King as the one I had in 15 was an amazing amount of ball for the buck. The question is which color? I had the black pearl.

Mine is the black pearl also.  I looks like it "hugs" the lane surface to my eye.  Probably just an easy ball to see in contrast to the lane surface.

Can anyone tell me how the Strike King compares to the LT-48? Had both and loved both but one was pin up and the other pin down. Hard to compare.
