Should I buy a Zone or a WD for a spare ball and which hooks more????

If you live in a glass house, then you shouldn't throw stones and if you gotta glass jaw, you better watch your mouth, cuz i'll break your face.

Which plastic ball hooks more is not a question that needs asking. Either should be more than sufficient.

Even though both have a hardness rating of 78-80, I heard that the WDs tend to hook more than any polyester ball. Personally, I cannot confirm this, it is just a rumor among experienced bowlers around here.
If you are looking into some straight polyesters, the Rio balls from Circle Athletics and the Atom balls are supposed to be harder than the WDs and Zones.
If you want something to hook for spares, also watch out for urethane 3 piece balls like the Red Pearl Urethane Hammer. They hook slightly, are great dry lane balls, but much much tamer than any reactive piece.

Viz A Balls will hook the most. Sand off the picture and rebuff.. You'll have a monster. (in its own right)

I had a VizaBall, and it did hook. I could actually use it when the lanes went to dry, rather than using a weak reactive. I just bought a white dot, but not bowling any leagues right now. I cannot tell you about the white dot until I find a league to bowl, due to work schedule changing.

Grab the Columbia300 blue dot.Your color is limited to grey/silver pearl....but it is an awesome ball when you don't want it to hook at all.

I'm a Brunswick guy, and I even bought a White Dot. The colors were cooler to pick from than the Zone's. I wanted something really different.

Yeah, the colors are the Zones' weak point. The last I really liked was the black sparkle 3 years ago, and, because I did not find anything better, I bought a blue pearl.
Goes quite straight, though (more than the solid ones, is my impression?), but also hooks more than is to my liking. Think I have to polish it up after almost 2 years of use, has a real track worn in.

My friend just gave me this plastic rhino ball by Big B but i don't really want it. My other friend also is interesting in this Storm ball, but i will see it tomorrow. I don't know what kind it is.

Well I bought a Storm plastic spare ball. The blue, purple and silver one. It was cheaper. Is this a decent spare ball?

I have had a carmel/black/silver white dot, very nice color, but mines tend to hook on the end. I grew VERY frustrated with it. I received a clear Team storm blue and the verdict is......That hooks as well. Both balls have a full blown track in them???(don't know how since they are not supposed to according to the man who sold them to me) Another guy at the proshop told me to polish them and that should work.

In my experience the white dot likes to take off quite a bit... i was bowling a tournament and set it down almost in the left gutter... swung it to the 1 board... and it came back past the pocket. Just my experience though

Yeah.... Um, OK.
Hookwise all plastic balls are much more alike than different. Don't get too swept up in the details. Buy whatever is cheapest and easiest to get your hands on.
