the first two zones to hit the market, the black amber zone and the red zone, were available in 1995. the black amber zone used a pearlized powrkoil 15 reactive coverstock and was mated to a new core design----a core design that was similar to what would be used in the highly popular sapphire blue zone which came out later that year. the red zone used a solid version of the powrkoil 15 reactive coverstock and was mated to the core from the rhino pro le. this core was later used in the johnny petraglia lt-48 gold.....one of my all-time favorite balls. these first two zones were made to combat the tour oiling patters at the time but were soon left behind as the pba changed their lane maintenence program.
