What is the commonly accepted standard timeframe for waiting on communication/order confirmation from a seller on this board?
I have been waiting 4 business days (6 actual days) for a seller to contact me regarding a deal that I thought we had.
At what point can I/should I post negative feedback?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

I don't often buy bowling balls, and I certainly don't want to burn any bridges. But I am getting frustrated with the seller in question. This seller is well known to this board, with a good record of price and delivery, but a very poor record of communication.
The deal that I have arranged will not likely be able to be duplicated by any other online seller, so I'm hesitant to cut ties at this point.
Am I being naive? What would you do in my shoes?

wait a few more days and see what happens, could be having computer problems or something, always be optimistic until the person gives you a reason not to. once so i would say give up.

Has the seller read your messages? If so, message him again asking why it's taking so long. If he hasn't, something must have come up.

I shoud add that this seller not only has my BR profile, but my home address and cell phone number as well.
The last contact that I had was when the seller PM'ed me to say he would call me for payment details and order confirmation. That is where the communication chain was broken. I checked my PM with the order information to him, and I'm sure that he has my correct cell number and address.

There are legitimate reasons for such delays, although it seems a lot of people have been claiming these things are happening to them. Unless you have proof to the contrary, you have to accept their word about what happened.
A number of other scenarios are possible, but I hate to dwell on the negatives.
If no other options are available to you besides posting negative feedback, you lose nothing (unless there's something you haven't mentioned) by waiting. You can always post it, but if there turns out to be a valid reason for the delay, you could have to make an embarrassing public apology if you post negative feedback early.
6 days/1 week delays have happened to me also, as both buyer and seller. It made me very edgy and all kinds of bad thoughts went through my head. Balls were eventually bought and sold.
Good luck.

Thanks, everyone!
Yeah, I was in a little funk thinking that the seller had abandoned me. But I still want to have the hope that there is a "glitch" and a simple explanation regarding the details that are preventing us from finalizing this deal.
I guess I will give it one more day, and then post the negative feedback. I think 1 week without order confirmation and processing for a "professional e-tailer" is sufficient.
Charlest - You're right that I haven't lost anything but time (and patience?!) right now. Patience is a virtue; but it's difficult when your expectation level is high and you are awaiting the product with eager anticipation. I am not reaady to give up yet - that's why I have tried to be careful not to disclose the seller up to this point.

On the surface it might appear like deadmoney is "ambulance chasing". But, is he really "stealing a deal" as you claim?
IMO - Not if the tentative deal that I have right now has fallen through. This was the question of the original post - at what point do you declare a deal "dead"?. I think I'm getting close to that point.
From my viewpoint, he (deadmoney) simply offered me another option if I determine that my current purchase path is a no-go. I appreciate that he recognized my problem and offered a possible solution. It's a possible business opportunity for him, and he may just have been in the right place at the right time, with the right offer.
I'm not going to act unethically and immediately abandon my current commitment to the original seller in question in this post. But I am starting to plan for the possible contingency that I have to start over with my ball purchase.
I don't know deadmoney's past transactions, or reputation on this board or other sales venues. But I'm willing to listen to his offer for help. What would you do differently if you were me?

Thank's DEADMONEY that offer was honorable.

Dan,
Have you sent any messages via BR and clicked the box to save??? If there was no response for a couple of days, I would have sent another to see if it was read, and if it's been read and no answer, I would only wait a couple of days and then send one more stating the waiting period is over on such and such a day at which time a no response means the deal is off.
If he reads that and does nothing, it should make it a little easier.

Yes, I save almost all of my messages. They all show that they have been read.
I have sent 2 messages (read, but unanswered) since the one he sent me last Wed. early AM where he was to call me and finalize the details.
I will try to call this seller today as I have a number for him.
Thanks for the advice!

Are you out any money or product on this deal? if not, I am not sure what the problem is. I know its frustrating when you don't get a response back, but to me that normally means for whatever reason the user does not want to continue talking about a deal and I just move on..
Thats just my 2 cents..

Update:
I finally spoke with the seller this afternoon, and I will receive my new ball on Saturday. He was very busy, and admittedly had dropped the ball on the communication. (Sorry, no pun intended.)
I am very confident that this deal will proceed after talking with him.
I will update this thread again this weekend if it does not go through.
Thanks again to everyone who helped!
