Since it seems that even with these boards, more and more GOOD people are losing out on either money or equipment through "scammers". Although I realize that there is no "solution" to ever actually stopping these abusers permanently, maybe they could be lessened.
Since there are several laws being broken, State & Federal, maybe if a few were actually prosecuted, others might think twice before attempting it.
Yes, in most cases the dollar value although significantly small compared to say buying a used vehicle, is still substantial to some.
Lastly, maybe if in the case of minors, the parents were constantly contacted, or held responsible it would help.
Lastly, in some cases, why not have our members constantly be a constant remender to the "deadbeat" by appearing at their local lanes, leagues, etc. Sometimes peer pressure can be a good thing.
Sorry about the soapbox....just tired of this....and sorry to hear Shaggy is still out his money and ball!

Lessen the occurrences? Sure, KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH! Dont jump into a transaction just because some jackass says hes got the latest hook-in-a-box(or etc.) for a handful of singles. Its that easy!

2 Things that I think would help with reducing the scams.
1) In order to post in the wanter/trades/for sale forum you have to have a verified e-mail address & it has to be available to the public.
2) IP addresses should be available if problems arise & you should be able to go to the admins of the site & try to track down any other profiles they may be using via IP.
I think those are a couple of easier steps we could see implemented to reduce the scammage.

Very true guys but let's not forget those of us that have been shafted by people on the boards here that are repeat customers and buyers.
I think that Bruice needs to take a more proactive role in this and when somoen has a complaint with an individual, he needs to be notified and step in like Scott used to.
I know that if this issue between Steveo and myself had occurred (and still has not been resolved BTW) when Scott was running things, I could have contacted him and had the offending party blocked.
Perhaps we need to demand such a sustem from out site administrator.

Doug, as usual, we will agree and disagree...lol. It would be fantastic if Bruce could step in and assist, such as blocking the persons responsible in these "scams". But it is not his responsibility to do. If the resources and time were available, even a third party "holding" system could be implemented for a small fee. (Buyer sends payment to "third party holder", when payment is received, seller contacted and ball shipped. When ball is received by buyer, "holder" sends payment to seller. A small fee to be paid by seller or buyer compensates "holder". Similar to a PayPal, but no bank accounts, credit cards, etc.
It is still my belief (Michelle and others echoed it in other posts) that if people would "drop a dime" and begin prosecuting individuals for these violations, it may tend to stop from people attempting it. They are taking an educated guess that no one is going to bother "chasing them down".

I still haven't gotten my money or ball from Ringing 10's either. That transaction started six months ago. The thing that really gets me is that he came highly recommended so don't tell me that I should check out a seller before I buy. I did my homework and this douchebag f'd me. Now I am told that he is dead. I'm not trying to sound disrespectful to the deceased (I have a call in to a detective over in Connecticut where he lived), but if he would've sent me my ball or my money back six months ago, this wouldn't be my problem!
