Very disapponting experience
« on: April 05, 2010, 03:23:06 PM »
Bought a Brunswick Wild Ride from Warren300 for $65 shipped as advertised. Balls were all first quality, 20+ available ect ect.

Got a tracking number and the ball in no time. Didn''t pay much attention other then the ball was a little duller then ones I''ve seen.

Two days later I decided to go by my bros and throw the ball on the spinner to shine it up and get it where I want it and notice the ball has a very distinct flat spot inside the Big B logo on the bottom of the B.

I know this is where Brunswick use to mark balls as 2nds and decided to check the box. On the box is the stamp from Brunswick in black ink marked 2nd which had been marked/scribbled over in black magic marker to cover it.

So back to checking the ball. It looked like someone had hit the logo part with a dremel tool and then put the ball on a spinner to sand it out. The ball still had the swirl marks with it starting at the flat spot.

Found another individual who just left positive feed back on here for warren300 on the same ball and sent him what I noticed on mine and asked if he had checked his over. He replied he just did and it was the exact same way. The ball the box and everything.

Warren300 advised they were all first and offered a refund or another ball if I returned it. I went through paypal and got a refund for $15 which he agreed to, which is what it would cost for me to have that spot repaired.

I would have paid $65 shipped just as fast for a 2nd of this ball as a first but I am extremely disappointed that someone would do something like that and say it was the only one, when I had already found a second one he sold in the same condition.

I have to have it repaired because 95% of the ways I would like to lay the ball out put the flat spot in my track area.

So something to consider when buying.

I don't think anybody thinks you're in the wrong here, kid. Some of us are just surprised to hear that this happened with Warren300, a guy who has never had such allegations made until now. I think we're all just curious to hear his explanation for why this took place. You certainly have the right to be bent out of shape at having been misled.

Yeah I understand. I was curious myself. Especially when I talked with a second person who was in the same boat and didn''t even know it till I mentioned what had happen with mine.

$65 shipped for a 2nd of that ball for me is a great deal, and the same for a first. After looking a little further the mb is probably the reason it is a 2nd. If you draw a line from the pin through the cg further down the mb is closer to 3" right of that line. Which I prefer for a lot of my equipment.

And has rolled super on some of my older Track x-outs I got back in the day. (Delta Rule and Animal Untamed)

Let's clarify and put a end to the speculation. This is the only issue I have had with these balls. I purchased these as a package deal and as first quality equipment from a shop who needed some help. I in NO way doctored or sanded any balls for any reason. I was offered the lot, checked box specs, logoing color etc which were all inline so I toke the deal. The last thing that I would have thought about checking for was flat spots. I have done hundreds of transactions on here and have never altered or passed off a product for something it isn't.

The issue was brought to my attention so I did what I have always done and try to fix whatever the issue is quickly. Had I known that this would be made into this type of topic I would not have agreed to a partial refund. I would have rather replaced the ball and inspected it myself. When it was brought to my attention I pulled 5 other balls and inspected the area he described and did not see any flat areas or sanding marks. I relayed this to the buyer when I offer the exchanged but he sent a case thru Paypal for the $15 repair fee. To save everyone time and to make it easier I agreed to the refunded.

You did NOT respond to who blacked out with black magic marker on box.

Who did that Warren?

There you go. Some one screwed him who sent it to others without knowing.

I would just check any boxes with black magic marker as a good indication. I know at least two are out there.

Customer service wasn't an issue as stated. Just making note of what had occurred. You had plenty of people at your defense.

I opted for the refund for repair because shipping to and from gets expensive and repairing it is the cheapest route. Had it been anywhere else on the ball it wouldn't have mattered, unfortunately it is in the worst place possible for me.

You don't have to look back to far in the forum to see that I was the person that recently left good feedback for Warren300.

I did receive what kidlost2000 described.  If he had not noticed it and asked me, I never would have seen it.  I opened both boxes (inner and outer), looked at the ball to see the pin, cg, mb markings, glanced at the drill sheet and boxed it back up and put it on the shelf - never even took the Brunswick box out of the shipping box!

I've never seen a Wild Ride in person, so I don't know if the color is off or not, but I don't see anything else that would indicate it should be a 2nd.

I even suggested that perhaps the balls were mismarked by Brunswick and "repaired" or that Warren300 received them this way and sold them unknowingly.  I double checked the sales listing and it doesn't say whether they are 1st quality or not.

I also thought the buffing out of the blem mark was sort of funny.  I'm not sure how Brunswick marks them, but I thought if looked at just the right angle I could still some markings - either a B, S, or maybe even a 2.

But I also know that Warren300 is from a reputable pro shop.  I've never been there - it's about 75 miles away, but I've checked the website and they look like they have some nice prices.

I figured if he had done it on purpose he would have done a better job of covering up the "2nd" stamp on the box.  The black marker doesn't do that great of a job.  Much better ways of covering it up - would have been better to put a label over it and then write the customer's name on it!

I was happy to get the specs that I requested - I asked for a 15 in the 15 1 to 15 3 range with a 3-4" pin and 3-4 oz of top.  I receive 15 3, 3-4" pin and 3.1 oz of top, so I was happy.  $65 shipped is about what I wanted to spend since I'm considering moving back up to 15lb and this (and another used ball I bought) will basically be my tests balls.

I don't think the flat spot will be in a bad spot for me, so I'm not worried about.  I thought the $65 was a good price, even for a 2nd, so I wasn't too worried about it.

Here are some pics - http://s841.photobucket.com/albums/zz335/qstick777/Wild%20Ride/

The flat spot is noticable if you are looking for it.  I guess if you were to track over it it would be a problem, so I see why it was an issue for kidlost2000.

I've bought balls on here as well on ebay from Warren300 and have not had any problems or complaints. I have a small shop and he gives good deals which in turn I can give my customers a good deal. Don't throw him under the bus, cause he was helping somebody out! Besides $65 for a Wild Ride is a great deal! Just my $.02, Bruce
