Title: Anyone heard/seen The Nean?-Contact made-issues resolved?--Nope, not by a long shot.-5/28/31-almost
Post by: 230-n-up-or-bust on May 21, 2005, 02:17:35 AM
I bought a NIB Inferno from him early-mid last week, paid via paypal, and haven't heard from him since.  I tried to message him and have him explain what might be the delay, no reply.  I hope that everything is well for this person and his family, however, please answer this.  How long should someone wait until they begin to wonder if they've been taken for a ride.  I was in the hospital for 10 days and conducted two trades and two purchases with only a slight delay, on my part, with the trades.  However, I kept in constant communication with the people involved in the deals and let them know why the delay was taking place.  For all intent and purposes, a valid tracking number should be provided in 48-72 hours, except in extreme circumstances.  I think I'll give The Nean until Monday until I begin a paypal claim.  That will be nearly two weeks after purchase.  If a person hasn't responded to messages or provided the product by then, I belive it's well within my rights to be a little upset and try to refund my monies.

You had some pretty strange circumstances in your situation.  And, in a fairly timely manner, you were willing to make it right with the customer and provide evidence to your plight.  More importantly, the lines of communication were kept open.  When avoidance is the only thing that's happening, two things usually have happened.  Either something catastrophic has occurred.  Which, I hope has not.  Or, the seller has failed to fulfill his end of the bargain and failed, yet again, to inform the purchaser of any reason why.

FYI, if/when this situation is resolved, I will be more than happy to delete this topic and help to clear this person's name.  In the mean time, tick, tock, tick, tock......

Screw it.  I'm not waiting until Monday.  If something has happened to the seller, I hope everything is alright.  However, there's just no reason(ok, maybe a couple of reasons) not to return attempts to communicate with him and determine the cause for the delay.  I've started the dispute resolution procedure on paypal.  I'm gonna use this money that I retrieve to purchase a Shock & Awe.  So, if anyone has one that they'd like to part with, pm me a price and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Damnit...

I knew it was too good to last.

I've made about 60-70 transactions on this site without a hitch and you're bound to have crap like this happen sooner or later.

I cannot stand how the internet has given, otherwise cowardly humans, the courage to try to screw around with people they've never met.  Oh, wish that we could cross paths...

I guess that is why I don't get into deals or trades. I rather pay the price at my proshop for new or used balls and don't have to worry about anyone ripping me off . Good luck and hope everything turn out good .

Melvin, everyone's got a little skepticism when it comes to internet purchases.  If it weren't for paypal, I'd question whether or not I'd even buy anything online.  As long as they're able to recover the money, I guess it could be a lot worse.  It's still a question of morals and upbringing.  I was taught that if you choose to make a deal, shake a guy's hand, or sign on the bottom line, that you followed through on your word.  Or, at the very least, kept in communication if there was a problem.  The internet has exposed a certain segment of the population that is eternally cowardess, and the lack of face-to-face contact virtually eliminates the chance of them getting their gluteous kicked.

I know that he was away at a tournament over the weekend, but I don't think Nean would burn anyone like that.. I'll see if I can find him today and find out what the deal is...

As for extremebowler or whoever that person is, that's not Nick.. That's Chris McEndarfer, also known as the kid whom everyone here seemingly wants a piece of..

The Nean just e-mailed me to explain his side of the story and claims he will sned the ball out ASAP.  I'm not exactly happy about the time it's going to take to complete this transaction, but, things happen and he's willing to get this deal done.

Well, after eceiving a pm explaining why the delay took place and the promise to forward a tracking number, no ball, no tracking number, no contact.  As for the reason for the delay, if you're telling me the truth, I hope that everything turns out well for you and your family.  However, exactly how much time out of your busy schedule does it take to ship a package and provide a tracking number?  If the ball has been sent, thanks.  I'm only hoping to receive confirmation of shipment.  From there on in, it's up to the shipping service.  If it seems like I'm being the North end of a Southbound horse, sobeit.  I simply do not do business this way.  This coming from a snake that's been in the car business for over 16 years.  Now that's saying something...!

This site is full of good honest sellers/buyers. Don't let the bad ones discourage you from making deals on here. You'll be fine as long as you check references before making deals. Most of the good guys keep a list of successful transactions in their profile. I have made 22 successful transactions here and never had a problem with any of them.

This is in The Nean's defense.

He has contacted me.

He has provided a valid UPS tracking number with a scheduled delivery on 5/31/05.  I needed the ball before 6/1/05 for a 10 game practice session leading up to Lombard's Wild Turkey Bourbon regional tourney.  The only thing left is for the ball to arrive.  There were some extenuating circumstances that led to the delay that, agreeably, could have been handled better.  However, as long as the product is safely in my possession by the end of Tuesday, I'll be happy.

The bottom line, communication is crucial.  Providing news, bad or good, regarding the progress of finishing a transaction is key.  Nobody's gonna argue with me on that one.
