I had this exact situation last year. I had a deal for a guy to buy a ball from me for $75 shipped. Two days later, he tells me he isnt going to be able to do the deal.
Two days later, I got an offer for the ball for $60 shipped and decided to go ahead and sell it. Told the guy I would get it out on monday.
Sunday morning, the original guy sends me a message that he got a bonus and wants to go ahead and get the ball. What to do?
Told guy #1 that, when he told me he couldn't do the deal, I sold it to someone else. Went ahead and sold it to guy #2 for the $60.
Guy #1 got p.o'd, but it wasn't my fault. I gave my word in both cases and the result was just a twist of fate and bad luck.
If he had a deal fall through, then made another one with someone else, he should have honored the deal in progress and NOT the one who came running back, even if it was a better deal. He should have kept his word.
