Author Topic: Bad experience with D McLaughlin (Read 1177 times)

Lemme start off by saying that the only thing I lost in this transaction was a lot of time, so that people don't think he's a theif. OK, now the explanation:

D McLaughlin posted looking for some older bowling balls in 15#, so I messaged him with a few I had that were what he was lookin for. After a few messages backnd forth, we agreed upon a price for both balls shipped to him, and that he would send a money order. The last message letting him know my address and finalizing it was on 9/13. On 9/18 however, I receive a message saying:

I hadn't shipped anything yet (as I was waiting for his FedEx #), BUT, I had already gone and purchased the box to ship it in (from FedEx) and packed them both up, ready to go, except I didn't have his address yet. I suppose that I just see it as bad buisness when a deal gets finalized and then doesn't go through. I'm sure all this post will generate is all the people who have had good transactions with him, but I just basically wanted to post it as a reminder as to why I never ship before I receive money (as I almost did here, since he had a very good reputation on here).

WOW.....I got bashed for doing the RIGHT thing and msging you as soon as I found out instead of doing what 90% of the peeps do out here and just not respond or reply. My sincerest apologies that my elbow couldnt hold up long enough to complete our deal. And had you shipped them to me, prior to receiving payment, based on my good reputation I would have returned them and included payment for any cost you incurred. I DONT treat anyone any differently that I would want to be treated.

I'll go to bat for D McLaughlin here. He is a great guy and has a great rep on this site. Like he said, he could have just ignored you like 95% of the other "children" on this site do. He was at least man enough to let you know what was up!

Darren has always been straight up with me, we have done many deal's over the years he would not lie about an injury to you.

Would you like him to pay for your box??? That would be the only thing that would seem out of line except your time and gas involved.

Darren is a good guy and it looks like to me he did the right thing.. Things sometime just happen, nothing you can do about that.

I have known Darren personally for years, and he has had repetitive issues with his elbow. Many times he has switched now between 14 and 15....

BigWilly you're just being a little b!@#h about this. Get over it....Darren did the right thing here and you're crying about what? You wasted a day or two....wow....god forbid.

Come on guys. I can't believe what I am reading, especially you Kiser. You are one who everytime you send pics to someone and they do not buy what you are trying to sell and you are only out time, you come on here and post how you are so upset and this person kept you going for 3 or 4 days and you sent pics and did this and that, but never reached a deal to do something. But yet, you come on the forum and complain a up a storm about these users and how to either not deal with them or be careful so they do not waste your time as well, but this time since it didn't happen to you its ok? Typical. Everyone always wants feedback on here, but yet when someone tells something exactly as it happened, then posts it for everyone to see, since it involves either a friend or a respected user its ok! But this better never happen to me by anyone else cause you will be on here quicker than crud complaining about them. Double standard to say the least!
While I understand D's situation, what if Big Willy had another offer for the ball while he was holding it for D, but told them no since he and D agreed to the ball? Would what happened be ok now? Even better, if this same situation happened to you, would you be sitting by doing nothing or would you be on here posting and whining about what happened?

3835 I have never whined about any of the 100 plus people back out of a deal on here, even the 20 or so that promised Money orders that never came.

So in my case your our out of line, cannot speak for the rest who posted here just me.

While I understand D's situation, what if Big Willy had another offer for the ball while he was holding it for D, but told them no since he and D agreed to the ball? Would what happened be ok now? Even better, if this same situation happened to you, would you be sitting by doing nothing or would you be on here posting and whining about what happened?

wasn't referring to you, only those who complain when they get stuck with a deadbeat but have never lost anything but yet in this thread they are defending the person who made a deal and backed out.

Whoa, haven't been on in a few days due to PC, and seems I was right.

First of all, I never said that I wouldn't ever do buisness with D McLaughlin again, BUT, as the forum implies, I am merely giving feedback for a transaction that we finalized. I understand about injuries (I am currently trying to get back to 100% from a torn Biceps Muscle in my bowling arm), so noone need remind me how an injury can affect your bowling.

As I stated, he messaged me 5 days after he agreed upon sending a money order. Not 1, 2, or even 3 days. Five days. This isn't about the money. If he'd still like to purchase them in the near future, I'd gladly hold them (like I am for another member in another transaction). The way that the message was worded, could've been a lot better. It didn't even officially state that he was withdrawing from purchasing the 2 bowling balls. I printed EVERYTHING THAT HE SENT, with the exception of his signature!

D McLaughlin: In no way am I "bashing" you, just merely stating what happened. If for any reason you feel I am incorrectly misrepresenting you, then please, feel free to explain. I have stated exactly how things happened. No intention of influincing anyones' further transactions with you just merely leaving my feedback as a seller in the appropriate forum. I have a very respected reputation on this site as well, and plan on keeping it that way.

Russell: SERIOUSLY, get over yourself. If you think I'M being immature about this, you are wrong. I am making a post about a transaction. If you don't care about other peoples' transactions (both good OR bad), then don't come on the feedback forum...simple as that! I stated that D McLaughlin has a very good reputation on here. I stated that the only thing I lost in this was time. BUT, I have every right to let people know how the transaction went. IF anyone bothered to look, I haven't nor do I plan to, place D McLaughlin in my profile as someone not to deal with...just giving FEEDBACK about a BUYER in the BUYER/SELLER FEEDBACK FORUM.

3835: I appreciate that you understood why I posted this. Like you said, noone has a problem with someone posting good about a person, but the second that the post doesn't hoist the buyer/seller high on a pedestal...he77 hath no fury!

In conclusion, like I originally stated, all this post would do is generate a bunch of people who have had great experiences with D McLaughlin. That's all good and fine, I just wanted to let people know how my transaction went with him. Nothing more, Nothing less.

I did a deal with Darren a couple of years ago and he was great to deal with. Deals sometimes fail to work out. I've had three guys asking for pics on a ball I listed for sale. One guy e-mailed me about three times and when he got the info he wanted on shipping cost I never heard from him again. It would be nice if people at least said they weren't interested anymore but so what if they don't. At least Darren contacted you, I never got that courtesy.

Waiting 5 days is too long to cancel a deal after they were suppose to send the Money Order, "NO" matter who it is, the Money Order should of been on the way.

Let me clarify what I said.. IMO, this situation was totally different than what I have complained about on here. Darren told the guy he couldn't buy the balls because his elbow was hurt, that's different than someone asking 10 questions about a ball and wanting pics with no intentions of buying it and just stringing you along waiting for an answer.. That is what I am talking about..

If a response took 5 days, that is also not very good.. Maybe Darren will post something on here about it..

Also, if you have a beef with me 3835, please message me in private and we can talk about it.. It's obvious that you do since you seemed to have picked me out, but that's OK.. I should have explained myself better..

PS: Big Willy is a good user on here and he knows it.. Sorry this happened to him.. I understand his frustrations, have been there many times before..
