Title: Make a change
Post by: nutsforbowling on May 28, 2008, 02:57:42 AM
BallReviews was looking for ways to improve the site. I say ban underage users from doing deals on here. I'm sure they can come up with a way of verifying the age of new members. It's a shame that some people just don't understand the basics of fair trade in this day and age.

I'd agree on that.  Make it so that you have to verify age or something and it shows in your profile maybe?

but not all underage kids are bad, just like not all of the grown ups are good.

The rating system is fine.  Even with a "grown up" you still have to take a chance the first time you buy a ball from them.

I only buy from members that have a rep on the site.

I agree with Eric.

The fact that you are underage doesn't make you a bad person.  The only time I've had a bad deal here is with an adult that walked off with 2 shirts without paying for them....and it was someone others trusted too.

I've dealt with the kids, and yes, there are times that you have to deal with the antics, but that's my choice.

I also don't think ALL underage kids are bad, just a few make it tough for the rest. My solution, only deal with payapl if I don't know the person. May loose some deals, but better than getting the shaft, IMO.

Besides, I'm sure we have some "bad" adults here as well.

I suggest making some entry into the profile mandatory.  I personally take
a person's opinion more seriously based on their bowling experience, age
and skill levels.

While I've personally had more problems with people under the age of 18 than adults, it's not by much.

You can't just ban them any more than you can ban any other minority  group. It's unfair to the honest and straightforward ones.

Just watch your p's and q's, dot all the "i"s and cross all the "t"s and look for references. DO a trade the proper way, if at all. Wait til cashor other payment is finalized before shipping the ball, Ship pronptly, send the tracking number without being asked many times to do so. Treat the other person like you want to be treated. Do what you said you'll do.

As far as I am concerned, the only reason for not keeping the other peson up to date is that you are in a coma. You made a business deal now stick to it.

I have sold at least 700 balls on here over the 5 years, probably 100 were to younger bowlers who's parents paypaled me or sent money order's.

Your idea's is very flawed because of the age, in fact it is discrimination against youth bowlers for no good reason.

We are discussing some ideas for trade feedback but there are no plans on limiting who can access the deals area based on age at this time.
