Mike30083 - Non-responsive
« on: April 17, 2009, 02:44:20 PM »
I sent Mike30083 7 messages beginning on April 7th, 2009, about buying 2 NIB balls that he had listed for sale under the heading of NIB 14-16lbs (3/20/09). I only wanted to buy the two balls,(out of a 60 ball list???). I did not try to talk him down on his prices or try to trade. I ONLY wanted to buy what he was offering. I know that he read at least two messages, yet, as of this date
he has still not taken the time to respond. If you try to buy from this guy, proceed with patience, it will probably be a long, drawn out affair. Ken Dukes

PS I have had several (about 6) successful tranactions with various individuals on this site including tekneek, dp3, bowling dynamics and others.

Kenny .. I could NOT find the posting you are referencing .. curious were you the only potential buyer of the 60 balls he offered? Was wondering if ANYONE did make purchases? What I'm asking is did ANY ONE else post interest in his SALE posting?

LOOK above (or below) this post on the buyer/seller feedback page. The title says Mike30083. When pro shop owners post multiple ball offerings, I know that it should not be expected that that individual will respond that day or even the next day, they are (some anyway) for the most part very busy guys. However, IF you advertise that you have product for sale and someone makes a
commitment to buy your goods and sends all the info to proceed with the sale (email, paypal address, items that they want buy) then surely after two or three days that individual should respond to the prospective buyer to finalize the deal????!!!!!!!!! After 7 messages, (two of which I KNOW were read), IF the pro shop guy was ANY kind of PROFESSIONAL, LOL, he would respond to his emails or PM's. I made the decision to buy two balls from Mike30083 and allowed myself 10 days to acquire these balls, knowing that I was going to use
them in a tourney. IF I had known that this individual was so slack in his dealings with people that wanted to purchase his goods, I would not have wasted my time with him, I would have contacted tekneek, DP3, Bowling dynamics and gotten the two balls that I wanted from one of them. Instead after wasting multiple days trying to get a response from this guy, I was forced to buy the two balls I wanted from a local pro shop at the last minute AND at a much higher price than I would have had to pay to any of the above referenced "good sellers" that I have dealt with in the past. I guess what it all boils down to is this, IF you have product to sell, be professional and courteous and RESPOND to potential buyers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ken Dukes

Kenny .. I don't know the seller or am I attempting to DEFEND him. I am trying to understand the problem! You saw balls for sale .. you intended to buy 2 at a good price! You sent email to the seller .. the seller did not respond .. you were looking for these balls for a particular tournament. With NO RESPONSE from the seller you went out and purchased the balls locally and had to pay a larger price.

The seller did not converse with you .. so you were not LIED too. The seller did not take your money and NOT DELIVER so you did not get robbed. The seller did not deceive you into expecting the balls and not delivering!

So it comes down to the fact that you had high expectations and are disappointed. You saw an opportunity to get balls cheap and YOU DIDN'T.

I don't know if the seller is a SAINT .. but the only complaint you have is that you didn't get the sale you were hoping for.

What am I missing?

No one said he was a liar, no one said he took money from me, no one said he did not deliver on what he promised... Did I say any of that???????????? NO.
All I said was that the individual was NOT professional, nor responsive, nor did he even have the courtesy to let me know that he either would or would not sell me any balls!!!!!!! IF you are posting on this site to sell balls or whatever, PLEASE give your prospective buyers the simple courtesy of answering their PM's or posts, otherwise don't waste everyone's time by posting in the
first place. Yeah, I wish that he had responded, at least then I could have sent my money to another seller on this site, rather than having to buy local,
BUT all I was doing was letting the community know that IF they chose to deal
with this seller that they should expect that there "may" be issues. Ken Dukes

Further response to Joe Falco's reply to a previous reply. A Pro Shop exists for three reasons. They are there to provide the bowling centers customers with quality service. Second, they are there to provide customer maintenance, (ie. service and maintain their customers equipment). Lastly, they are there
to sell a product IF their customer needs it. When you are in a customer related, customer driven sales business, the most important thing that you provide as a pro shop operator is customer satisfaction, no matter what the customer needs. IF you cannot provide that, you will not be successful. I am
in the sales industry myself and I know that the very first thing that I do when I go to work, is to check my email, check my phone messages and respond to
my potential customers promptly and courteously. The last thing that I do before I go to bed at night is to repeat that process all over again and make myself notes to return all messages as soon as possible. THAT is how you do
things, if my customers have to call me 6 or 7 times before I return their calls or answer their messages, then there is a very GOOD chance that someone
else will get their business, AND they will tell their friends about the way
that they were neglected. That is why the online discount ball companies have been able to establish the foothold that they have,it is because of the pro shop operators that treat their pro shops as a secondary business, almost a necessary nuisnace when they are at the shop. This guy owns two pro shops, plus a landscape business, if he answered his messages, he would sell more product. THAT is NOT hard to understand. IF you don't want to sell product, DON'T POST AD's saying that you have this or that for sale and then neglect to return PM's or Posts. When you are at the pro shop, it should be treated like any other business in which you want to be successful, ie. CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The online distributors are impersonal, they don't care WHY you want that ball, if they have it, you pay for it,they send it.  Just my .02 cents worth, Ken Dukes

I know how bad it feels to want a ball on here that is "supposedly" for sale. And I know what you are going thru and that it sucks. But is making all these posts about this guy neccessary? I can understand having one post just asking if anyone has dealt with this guy and stating your business. But to me this situation feels like it is getting slightly out of hand. I am not backing up this Mike guy at all. I am backing you up on this 100%. All I'm trying to say is just relax and try to work things out. Maybe there was a reason as to why he wasn't responding? Messages got lost? Messages never reached this guy? Or maybe he's just been too busy to check in on things. But if what I jsut said isn't true, and that he is in fact avoiding your messages and interest about his balls for sale. Then he's just another one to be very cautious with when making a deal. Trust me.... I do know how it feels. I've been through worse. There was one time about a year ago... I made a deal with some guy on a different website. I was trading my 16lb T-Road Pearl for his 15lb Complete NV. Plus I also threw in $10 or $20 so he could plug the ball and resurface it for me. I sent mine out. Days kept going by with no response or ball. I finally hear from the guy saying he got mine but didn't get a chance to ship his out yet because it was still waiting to be plugged and resurfaced. Days kept going by with more excuses. Then eventually the excuses turned into no communication at all. I never recieved the ball. I ended up losing a ball and about 10 or 20 bucks. BTW if anyone wants to try to reach him for me... His AIM name is easyonthemayo.

Joe,

You've been a member of this forum for a long time and are very well respected by many users, myself included. That said, I've gotta agree with the OP here. You've been here long enough to know that ignoring PMs in regards to a potential deal is a bad sign and the OP was right to make this post informing the rest of us.

Thank you for the kind thoughts!

Ignoring a potential sale and selling the same article to another is definitely NOT ACCEPTABLE! However in this case the article was not sold .. the problem is the BUYER did not get responded too as fast as he expected. If I was the BUYER I would have written the SELLER saying DUE TO YOUR DELAY I AM CANCELING MY OFFER and that would have released me for other interest. But then that's what I would have done!

You've seen some of the scams that have somehow been pulled off through this forum, and if the seller was really interested in moving his gear, and not just ripping someone off, he would've (read: SHOULD'VE) replied and conducted business in a proper manner.

I have witnessed most of the scams that have happened here and they make me furious! However this is NOT one of those cases .. no where near it! Other then NO RESPONSE FROM THE SELLER there was NO scam here at all! The BUYER feels hurt because he feels he lost a good deal in the time frame he wanted. Should the seller be penalized because he did not move as fast as the BUYER wanted .. to me that's ridiculous!

quote:
People who list stuff for sale/trade/etc, and then blatantly ignore inquires should be dealt with at your own risk, and caution should be exercised.

JMO.

I must agree with you! I still believe that dealing with an online sale the BUYER has the upper hand. If the Buyer feels he's being ignored an email from the BUYER CANCELING the inquiry (because that's all we are talking to here .. no deal was made) would be the proper action!

The BUYER tried to make his point by saying he bought the SAME BALLS locally and paid a HIGHER PRICE because he wanted to use these particular balls in a tournament. THAT WAS THE BUYERS* CHOICE! I bet that the seller still has the balls ..

I don't know Kenny or Mike in this deal .. but IN MY OPINION .. Mike's only fault was HE DIDN'T RESPOND FAST ENOUGH TO THE SATISFACTION OF KENNY! I don't feel that is a cause to degrade Mike!

PS .. I'm glad Mike came back and responded .. I think he gave a reasonable excuse for not responding in a timetable suitable to Kenny!

*CORRECTED ON EDIT

Sounds to me that Kenny Dukes is a whiner, he didn't get the price on the balls he wanted to so he thought he'd cry and moan about it.

Probably one of those people who think the world revolves around them and what they want.

Mike30083 has a viable reason for not being able to answer the ball inquiries. Life does not revolve around selling old bowling balls to whiners on BR.com. He makes (loads) more money doing his real jobs. I'm sure if he'd had the time to respond to the questions regarding the bowling balls the service would have been great.

Now you've soiled his name and reputation simply because you didn't move on and find another seller for cheaper then local, but more expensive then what Mike30083 was selling them for. If you knew after a few days he didn't respond and you still had time to contact another online seller, you should have done so, instead of irately whining about the process.

TO Joe Falco and tuckingfenpin,
   Dear Sirs???,
IF you take the time to read the original post, NO one said this guy was a liar, cheat, scam artist, fraud or anything else. No one said he wasn't a hardworking honest business man. No one disgraced his name or tarnished his reputation. The only thing that was said is that he had been unresponsive over a period of 10 days. DUH>>> ALL that was said is that he (seller) received 7 messages over the course of 10 days from (potential buyer) and since the seller opened up two of the messages on the 8th and 9th of April, surely the seller was expecting (and deserved???) some sort of response by the 17th??? Minor delays are of course to be expected, but no response in a 10 day period was ALL THAT THE POST WAS REFERENCING!!! JUST a general warning to the BR community that if they dealt with him to "possibly expect things to proceed slowly" ISN'T that what the post said????
