Topic: Dealing with younger users.
« on: May 27, 2008, 09:39:44 AM »
Hey everyone, I guess this is an all right forum to post this in, so here goes. I wanted to know everyone's opinion on dealing with the younger users of the forum here. Yes, I am a younger user here, only 15 years old, but have had plenty of transactions (check out my profile!). After seeing the thread on what happened to Kenny, I do understand everyone's frustration, but I also saw comments about him being young and not responsible to handle a transaction. No offense to you, Kenny,  though. I have talked to him a few times before, and he seems like a good kid.

Anyways, would dealing with a younger user influence on whether you buy/sell/trade with that user? Just a question that popped into my head today. I'm pretty bored, lol.

Thanks!

Same here, i had 2 transactions, being 15 and is in the middle of a few more. Im trying to be as good as possible and if anyone has any problems with me i would like to be known. But i would also want other people to not be scared to deal with younger users.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

All I know is I am sick and tired of exchanging 49 messages with all the details of the ball and my personal analysis of how the ball will work for him, taking and downloading and sending him 4 or 5 pictures of the ball, then not hearing anything from him for a WEEK, while 7 other people show an interest in the ball. Then after I send him 4 messages, asking him to make a committment one way or the other, he says,

"My mommy won't give me the money for the ball!"

I want to know, from now on, how old he is, and how he intends to pay for said ball.

Poor/no communication isn't just a problem of the 15 & 16 year old crowd, a lot of "adults" on here exhibit the same behavior.

Is it THAT hard to take 10 seconds and reply with "sorry, thanks" or "no longer interested" when you see a price or picture or whatever that causes you to no longer have interest in a ball you have been discussing with a seller?

FYI
I used to be extremely polite and conservative: the first person expressing an interest has the first right to buy the ball. Sorry, been screwed too often, lost too many sales.

From now on, the first person paying for the ball has all the rights. Ask all the questions you want, but the first person committing to buying the ball AND paying for it, gets it. I'll hold it until someone pays for it.

charlest,
Shouldn't that be the way deals are done?

As for the younger users on here I've dealt with a few on here and haven't had a problem. I treat them the same way I would anyone else.

Maybe. I used to give the first innquirer the first right of refusal, but if I got another interested party, I'd let the first know.
No longer is that true. My courtesy has been turned against me. I will not allow that any more. The ball is now reserved when your dollar crosses my palm.

No, it's the mostly the younger ones who seem to feel free to hide behind the annonymity of the internet and screen names. Like most people now, I'll deal with someone who has previous dealings with those I know or respect or in whom I've found some reason to trust.

I don't care how old the person is if they are a "serious buyer" for something I have for sale. I am SO tired of getting messages from people that ask questions about the ball and even ask how much shipping is and then tell me they will let me know something in 2 weeks!! Thats total BS..

My deal is this. If you don't have the money to buy the ball now, why ask any questions about it??

Sorry for the rant..

PS: In the past I have had a couple of bad experiences with younger users so I am a bit cautious when dealing with them now..

This could be from somebody that is any age. Courtsey should be used at all times, however like society it is lacking. I will/do look at their past transactions not someones age. A tool can be a tool no matter what age they are.

Brian, I would never hesitate to deal with you. I've seen enough of your posts to know that you have a good head on your shoulders.

No offense, but why can't questions about the ball be asked, especially if the price isn't posted?  So you're saying is if you don't have the price in your post, then it's probably too high so we shouldn't even ask?  I think the buzz words are "I'll let you know in 2 weeks" really means they don't want it for what you're charging.  Some people don't come out & say "You are charging more than I want to pay" because they don't want to start a war of words.  Some sellers may be more sensitive than you are & the questioner doesn't want to offend.  Just my .02.

I have a whacko now who keeps changing either buying or trading with me, he is kind of crazy one day I am buying it next day no i dont need it.

he has a flawless record and seems to be ok so for now I will not post his name.

Btw I could care less how old you are or are not, when you pay me the ball is on it's way to you period. I have sold to as young as a 13 year old and his mom payplaed me the dough still spends the same way to me.
