WTB (want to buy) posts....
« on: January 30, 2008, 02:43:29 AM »
I am really tired of all the posts being listed here lately saying a user wants to buy 1 2 3 or 4 balls.. If you are not ready to BUY, DO NOT post something stating WANT TO BUY!! Its a total waste of time for the person reponding..

I have answered several of these types of posts over the past month and most people do not even have the courtesy to message you back and say they are not interested.. Or they do answer back and say, they are not ready to buy yet..

Please do us all here a favor and do not post WTB posts unless you are prepared to buy with payment in hand and please reply back to the person that took the time to reply to you with a response of some kind..

Thanks You and sorry for the rant!!

Agreed Jim.  Couple of deals fell thru as users said they want the ball then back out.  You gotta wonder.  It all comes back home to roost if you believe in karma.

Great rant jkiser, I totally agree with you.  I have been encountering the same problem.  I even send them pics and answer all questions.  I now label them WOT = waste of time.  I see them more and more on BR these days, they just don't know what they want. When I see their WTB post I basically ignore it.

I just don't undestand why someone would post a WTB stating they want 4 or 5 different balls and not be ready to buy them.. It just makes no sense..

I also hate the multiple questions and then they just stop replying.. I don't mind answering as many questions as a serious buyer has..

while we are ranting, anyone else get sick of the all the ebay ads on here?  I mean I will go to ebay if I want to bid on a ball.  to me those ads should not be on BR.

IMO, one time is sometimes OK, but the constant TTT for something on ebay is ridiculous..

Bottom line, most of these scenarios boil down to courtesy or common sense. Situations that appear to be quite rare.  If someone truly wants to buy a ball and has the cake, a quick search within the site will show what's available.

I'll respectfully disagree with this comment.  Plenty of times, I have reached a deal with someone before the auction was over.  You can certainly make an offer on a ball that someone posts a link to on ebay.  If they like the offer, then can end the auction early.  If they don't get any offers on here, then it goes to the highest bidder on ebay.  I guess I don't see an issue with this.

I have a feeling many of these posters are looking for that super deal where you take $7.95 for the ball shipped to their door.

The people who are wanting to buy & post them are ok IF they post what specifications they are looking for with the ball.  NIB, pin placement, top weight, or single drill low games or whatever they can to eliminate the waste of time & are truly serious about buying.  Sometimes a WTB post is good, because a guy riding the fence on weather he wants to put a ball up for sale or not might just be nudged by someone looking for that particular ball.  Both sides should be fair when it comes to pricing.  Don't expect a WTB just to up & buy your ball because you have what he wants but aren't pricing it fair.  Not saying that's what you did, just saying for example. JMO.
