As I said in another post, I have a sale pending with Not_enough_carry203. He got the cash over 2 weeks ago, and supposedly sent the ball out on Feb. 2nd. There was supposedly a problem with the box ripping. After he got the box problem fixed, he supposedly sent the ball out 2 day air mail. The ball should have been here last friday, and it still isn't here. He hasn't given me a tracking number of any kind despite me asking him many times. The last time I spoke with him, he guaranteed that it would be here by Friday. I don't anticipate the ball to come tomorrow, and probably won't ever come. If I'm wrong, and the ball does show up, I'll be more than happy to erase this message and give him my apologies. What should I do? Am I wrong to think I've been ripped off?

Well, do what you can...

I got screwed, the best I could do was call the punk kid up.  But, what good was that going to do?

Theft report with local PD is always a good option...let the little eff'er explain the arrest/criminal charge for the rest of his life.  If they are old enough to decide to rip someone off, then they are old enough to deal with ALL of the resulting circumstances.

Oh...and if you work the report right with a juvenile con artist, sometimes parents can get dragged into the picture.  I went that route when a little 16YO kicked my car door many years ago...they were blowing the incident off until I tracked down which school the little waste of breath was going to and showed up with a Harris County Constable to take the initial report and obtain records related to the parking permit on his vehicle.

He did, which was why I assumed he was safe...hopefully everything works itself out....as of now, I'm skeptical. He seems like a good kid, and has kept up communication, I just have no ball...

maybe a bit off track, but I sell, I would always...always prefer for the buyer to use, Paypal, type payment. Covers the buyer and the seller. I do accept money orders, but for BOTH sides protection, I'd always request the buyer and seller use PayPal.

Good Luck on getting your money or item..

my 2 cents are up.

It is very hard to do anything without a tracking number. Was it shipped via U.S. Mail? Does he have E-mail ? Who is provider? What type of payment , money order, check? Do you have a phone number for him? I would keep after him daily to try and resolve this. I had a transaction a while back and the shipper was at fault. I finally got the ball 6 weeks later but I had to spend a considerable amount of time to get it resolved. Keep trying.

Good luck

I'm not totally sure here. I never thought he would do something like that. I talk to him every now and again on AIM, and used to talk to him a bunch. I think he may be busy. I am not trying to stick up for him if he ripped you off, but I really doubt he would do that, as he is an active member on here. He may sincerely just be having problems getting it out, or not, I dont know.

I'm in the middle of the same thing... in my opinion, if you are going to sell a ball AND accept payment for it, you had best have the ball in your possession and intend to ship it.  The seller claims to be selling the ball for a friend, who claims to have sent it, but can't provide a tracking number..  I was told everything from they couldn't make it to the ups store, to UPS delivered the ball to the wrong address, to it was just lost.  Four weeks after paying for the ball and I still have nothing.  I filed with paypal, but as stated above, the seller withdrew my payment and has no funds in his account, so therefore they are unable to recover any money for me.  The seller then went on to tell me that he doesn't have any money to repay me either...  I believe paypal does put a freeze on their account, but that doesn't do anything for me.  my latest story is that I am being sent a replacement ball...  Its not worth near as much as the original, but at this point, I would be happy to get anything.  I'm just hoping it doesn't start this cycle over again!

Its a royal pain in the butt, but you have to file complaints, call, or whatever it takes to get resolution.  From now on, I require any "new & unproven" members to ship prior to getting paid.  Most have no problem with this...as its a chance to get positive feedback and show they are trustworthy...  others whine and cry and don't want to do business (have even heard that they don't have enough $$$ to cover shipping charges...).  These are the shady people who put this site in its current status.  They are the ones that I don't care to do business with any longer.

TO make a long story short.. I'm not sure there is any really good method for recovering funds...  file with paypal, the internet fraud complain center (http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp), and call they local police if you know there they live...  I guess, for now, its the best we can do...

Good luck!

Paypal fraud report is a waste of time. I got ripped off for $275 ON A NON EXISTENT COMPUTER. Found out a least 5 others got taken by the same guy. Paypal answer was since he only used his account to receive ands immediately removed funds there was nothing they could do. When we asked for the bank and actual address for this scum Paypal protected his right of privacy.
