This ball is a monster that definitely needs oil in the heads and midlane to work properly.  I used different surfaces, but the box finish is where this ball is at it's finest.  Taking the surface up or adding polish just made this ball too aggressive on the backend.  Compared to my Rival drilled the same way, it was about 5-7 boards more aggressive, most of it on the back part of the lane.  Even with the length drill, this ball needs oil in the front or it burns up and oil in the midlane to control the backend.  But when there's oil with a friction point down the lane to throw it to, this ball is unstoppable.  At the end of last season, one house in town changed from an old BW synthetic to the new Anvilane Pros, and the lanes played really slick for the first few weeks until they got all of the lanes in.  The last night in league, I shoot 1007 with this ball for 4 games and was a factor in taking home about $1100 dollars that night.  The only problem is that I don't get to use it that often because Tucson has an oil shortage this year.  

This is definitely a high maintenance ball, if you don't take clean it regularly, it will lose it's reaction rather quickly.  The other thing is that it definitely tells you when it's time to bag it.

This ball is an absolute monster. It outhooks my N'tense LevRG which has a double thumb layout. This is a great heavy oil ball, mainly because it turns the corner extremely hard. Layout in profile. The only ball that has a stronger motion on heavy oil is the Virtual Gravity.

I agree with the post from a while back 11/24/2007. Please do not sand this ball I encountered the same results. I should have kept the out of box finish before altering the surface. My Resurgence is 15.3 or 15.4, with a 2” pin and about 2.5 to 3ozs of top weight. I have it drilled straight up with the pin above and centered directly between my ring and middle fingers. I throw about 18 to 19 mph with medium to high revs. When I purchased my Resurgence I immediately placed it in my bowling centers polish machine for 10 minutes for an extremely high gloss finish and compared to my other mid-line Columbia equipment Wrath Xp, and Action it went 60 feet. After that I proceeded to take an ordinary grocery store green Scotch-Brite pad and removed the polish, bad idea. I probably lost about seven to eight boards of hook from its original box finish before using it on a consistent basis.

 

After throwing it dull only in practice and for whatever reason I don't know, I proceeded to polish it again for only about a minute or two and began to use it in my one and only league at the time and actually scored pretty well with it. I stood about 17 or 18 probably drifted to about 20 or 21 during release, while aiming at about nine at the dots going as wide as four or five at the arrows. The reaction I got was a smooth hard arc to the pocket with continuing drive through the pins. I finished the season with a 231 avg, a high set of 794 and a high game of 299.

 

I found out after altering the cover stock more than once the Resurgence became extremely game sensitive. I haven't polished this ball for almost two years and probably won't ever again my ball reaction with a dull shine and rejuvenation is perfect. I have to rejuvenate it every 27 to 30 games or it will leave me pocket 7, 9 and pocket 5, 10 splits forever and a day, but after rejuvenation it’s a beast for pin carry playing down and in.  This is now the first ball out of my bag for average house patterns. I’d love to find a brand new Resurgence and see what type of reaction I would get fresh out of the box without altering the surface.
