my specs are left handed, 16mph, 375-400rpm, PAP 5 5/8 over 1/8 up with 6* of tilt

the ball is drilled pin down. 55*x5 1/8"x45* which puts the pin just below my ring finger. it is my favorite benchmark layout i also used on a rival. i took the burst down to 2000 abralon because i like to have a little surface on the fresh and it labored a little bit at 4000 ab.

Likes: this is a great benchmark ball. i have been able to use it on any fresh shot i have seen so far. short, medium, long, house shots. anything. i have used it mostly on medium sport shots and since it is so rolly and smooth i get the best reaction playing outside angles where the ball can really dig into the midlane and still hit. anywhere from the gutter to about the third arrow zone this ball is a monster. once i have to move deeper than that i put this ball away and move to my first transition ball.

on a house shot the burst is a great ball to start the night out with. very predictable and a great ball to read how the lanes are playing that night. i can strike at will with this ball on any house shot. but its a house shot so idk what merit you want to put on that

compared to the rival this ball is more rolly and smooth. the rival had a great midlane read and nice backend punch where as the burst has a better midlane read and just continues the arch on the backend. as a result i was able to move 3-4 deeper at the arrows with the rival and still maintain carry. i would have my burst 3-4 boards stronger than the rival but more of it in the midlane.

Dislikes: i dont have another to have a pin up one

COMMENTS

This is an early revving core with a longish cover. It makes it
very clean through the heads while still revving up. The core motion
allows a smooth midlane reaction but still leaving plenty of energy for
carry.

It isn't the skid/flip reaction, but one of the most controllable pearl balls I've ever thrown. It likes deeper trajectories because of how continuous the ball is.

If you like to swing the ball, you will like the Burst as it will generate better entry angles.

This type of ball motion is a signature for Columbia 300. Very nice control but still pretty booming backend.

This ball prefers Medium to Medium-Light shots. In the 4000 abralon polished factory finish, it is not ideal on a fresh shot. It reacts more consistently once there is a game down. Be careful if the midlane is fried as that is the only time I've seen this ball overreact.

You could sand it to handle fresh or heavier oil, but I really like the out of box reaction. Besides, you could always get the Outburst to compliment it.

Hey there all you Columbia 300 fans .... This is Chris Fisher, a 4 year Columbia 300 Amateur/Regional staff member. My PAP (positive axis point) is 4 3/8 right x 3/8 up, with a TC (track circumference) of 11.5.. and I have a very high rev rate.
I was so excited when Columbia announced the release of the new BURST because the RESURGENCE was my favorite ball ever.... We replaced the TI BOSS core with the RESURGENCE core and put a mid performance price on it. Believe the price is the only thing mid about it cause it definitely performs like a high performance bowling ball .....
My 1st has a 4 in pin with a drill pattern of 50 x 5.5 x 40, which places the pin over my middle finger and the cg swung right to be under my ring finger. This is my favorite drill pattern on the RESURGENCE.... Super smooth through the heads with a ton of backend ..... but i wanted to try it dull, so I brought it down to 1000 which was the RESURGENCE's cover but it kinda burned up to quickly with no drive through the pins. After that i hit it with 2000 and a quick 4000 and BANG, RESURGENCE reaction I was looking for. It gave me earlier roll with strong continuous backend : D.
Low to Medium rev rate players (strokers and tweaners) instead of placing pin 5.5 in away from pap, go a little smaller 3 - 4 in away. High speed players use smaller angles.
This is going to be the best ball in its price range this year and out perform other balls priced higher.

Burst #1: 5 x 4-1/2, 1-1/8" weight hole 4" deep, 2000 grit abralon

Simply incredible.. Despite the surface, extremely clean through the fronts. It begins to pick up in the mid-lane around 30ft and makes a hard arc off the back ends. Strong pin placement allows the burst to cover a suprising amount of boards, but a large hole keeps the reaction controlable off the spot. This ball & drilling combination is unquestionably the hardest hitting and has the highest carry percentage i've ever thrown.

Burst #2: 3-1/2 x 2, 7/8" weight hole 3" deep, box finish

When burst #1 begins to burn up, or volume is light to start this is the first ball out of my bag. Lower pin placement coupled with the shined box finsh equate to lots of length with a smooth read off the spot. It reads the lanes unlike any other shiney ball on the market. It has the hard hitting, pin throwing, carry percentage desired on THS but also the predictability to keep me out of trouble when the conditions are much tougher.

Great ball. I've had the Burst for about 6 months and average around 220 with it. It hits hard and continues through the deck which my Pure Physics will not do. Suits my style perfect - lower rev rate, 16-17MPH. I use a 15lbs Burst and going with a 16lbs OutBurst next. Gave the Pure Physics away as I left way to many 8-10's. Highly recommend this ball - hopefully the OutBurst will be just as good...

As you can tell my form lacks a lot to be desired. I have 3 of these balls. I throw 2 of them regularly. I don't know what the layout of the balls are. I know they are different. I call one the over dot. And one the under dot. Because of where the yellow dot is in relation to the finger holes. I use Vise finger grips as well as Vise IT removable thumb. I decided to go with the thumb due to issues with swelling. My average as of this review is 201. I throw the ball about 16.5 mph and have no idea how many revs. The ball finish on the over dot is 2000 and the under dot is 4000
